Emma turned injury into inspiration. ⚽

After a torn ACL took her off the soccer field, Emma powered through surgery and rehab at the Children’s Health Andrews Institute. When she later tore her other ACL, she showed the same incredible determination tackling recovery again with courage and positivity.

Now, as she finishes her rehab at our new Fairview location, Emma is turning her challenges into purpose. She plans to study physical therapy after graduation so she can help others the way her care team helped her. Get inspired by Emma: https://bit.ly/4rYvzLV

👣 Step-by-step success – Emaad’s journey to walking. 🎈
After undergoing SDR surgery for spastic triplegic cerebral palsy, Emaad completed intensive rehab at the Integrated Therapy Unit in Plano. Weeks of hard work helped him take his first independent steps at age 4. Now, he’s building strength, confidence and new friendships every day.

Scholarship opportunity: $500 award for the 2025/2026 school year at a college/university/vocational school for 1 oncology patient and 1 hematology patient.

Applications due no later than Feb. 1, 2026.
This scholarship is sponsored by the Dallas/ Fort Worth chapter of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses. DFW-APHON is a pediatric nursing organization dedicated to assisting families affected by cancer and chronic hematological disorders.
Applications for these scholarships will be reviewed and the winner chosen by a panel consisting of a pediatric hematology/oncology nurses and advanced practice hematology/oncology nurses.

ELIGIBILITY:
1. Any child who has been or is presently being treated for childhood cancer or chronic hematological disorder.
2. Diagnosis of childhood cancer or chronic hematological disorder prior to 21 years of age.
3. Child may apply more than one time, unless previously awarded this scholarship.

A day outside to support Camp Jubilee- A Camp For Kids With Sickle Cell Disease - a weeklong summer camp for more than 100 kids treated at Children's Health

The Sick of Sickle Cell 5k is on Saturday October 18, 2025. It includes the following events: 5k Run/Walk and Kids Run/Walk.
