Which one do you relate to the most? Or maybe you’re a mix of a few.

Imagine how much time and energy you’d have back if food didn’t take up so much mental space.

“What if it’s not really about the food?” 🤔
Eating disorders are often misunderstood—and real support goes far beyond telling someone what or how to eat.
In this blog, our Austin dietitian, Brittany Thiel, shares her perspective on what actually helps: compassion, collaboration, and care that looks at the whole person. 🫶
Because you deserve support that meets you where you are! 💛

Not everything about food needs to feel so hard 🤍

What happens when our registered dietitian nutritionists shadow each other 👀 Part 2!
After stepping into each other’s sessions, one thing became even clearer:
✨ The how matters just as much as the what.
It’s not just the nutrition knowledge…
It’s the way we:
💬 Reflect instead of “fix”
🧠 Get curious instead of assuming
🤝 Build trust before behavior change
Because real, sustainable change doesn’t come from being told what to do —
it comes from feeling seen, heard, and supported. 💙
These are the skills we’re constantly practicing, refining, and learning from each other every day.

If you feel “out of control” with food at night… it’s probably not willpower.

ADHD makes eating consistently VERY difficult. Planning, initiating, and remembering to eat all require executive function, so a lot of people end up unintentionally under-eating during the day.

Then your body catches up later.

Our ADHD informed dietitians can help! Email in bio to book your first appt today.

When the note basically writes itself because your client actually ate enough, stayed consistent, and followed through 👏🏼

This is what progress looks like. Not perfection, not extremes, just doing the boring basics over and over again until it works.

First, absolutely no hate to any of the girls in these clips. I don’t know them, their stories, or their relationship with food.

But I do know what I see every single day in practice.

I see the aftermath of the pressure to be small. I see how it shapes women’s beliefs about themselves, their worth, and their bodies. I see the anxiety around food, the rigidity, the all or nothing thinking. I see the skipped meals, the obsessive tracking, the “doing everything right” but still feeling exhausted, hungry, and stuck.

And I see how social media and the GLP1 landscape has made this louder.

What gets labeled as "healthy living" or "goals" often looks very different behind the scenes. What looks like discipline can sometimes be disconnection. What looks like control can actually be stress on the body.

Again, this isn’t about any one person. It’s about the environment we’re all in.

You’re not failing if you can’t maintain what you see online. You’re responding like a human in a body that needs fuel, flexibility, and safety. There is a way to pursue your goals without sacrificing your relationship with food, your hormones, or your mental health.

But unfortunately that version just doesn’t always go viral.

About

Infatuated with all things food, Maggy Doherty is a Registered Dietitian from Dallas, Texas. As a UCLA student-athlete on the Women’s Diving team, she learned how to use food to take her health and performance to the next level. After earning her Master of Science in Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago and practicing as a clinical dietitian at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital, she is now the proud founder of Doherty Nutrition LLC.

When she’s not working, you’ll find Maggy hiking in the backcountry, searching for the world’s greatest brussels sprouts recipe, and mixing up an old fashioned.
