✨ Is it PPD, PPA, or POCD? ✨
Perinatal mental health challenges can look different for every parent. While postpartum depression is more widely recognized, many also experience perinatal anxiety or perinatal OCD—and each one is temporary, treatable, and deserves support. 💙

This OCD Awareness Week, let’s break the stigma and raise awareness about perinatal OCD—marked by intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and hypervigilance—that can feel overwhelming but is treatable with the right help.

You are not alone. Healing is possible. 🌸

No need to interrupt breastfeeding for Botox or Retinoid skin treatment. Nurse on!

Retinoids are a group of compounds derived from vitamin A. They work by promoting cell turnover, reducing inflammation, and clearing clogged pores. Our big question: is it safe to use retinol while breastfeeding?

This is just one in a multi-part series this summer featuring research on vanity treatments during breastfeeding. 👀Read our article here: https://www.infantrisk.com/content/retinoid-skincare-and-nursing-what-new-moms-should-know

Highlights from our article:
🧖‍♀️Cosmetic retinols are unlikely to affect human milk or a breastfed infant. They are not regulated like drugs, so the content of the products themselves are always somewhat questionable.
🧴Topical retinoids, whether OTC or prescription, are generally considered safe to use while breastfeeding, as they are applied to the skin and absorbed in very small amounts.
💊Oral retinoids are NOT recommended during breastfeeding.

Despite CDC’s recent update, ACOG continues to strongly recommend COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy in any trimester and during lactation. The vaccine is safe, effective, and protects both you and your infant. Talk with your ob-gyn about getting vaccinated. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3RWsM3z
