We want to give a shoutout to both the Firedancers Dallas and
The Hidden Door Dallas for having us at their Soup’R Bowl Competition this past weekend! We’re honored that the Firedancers selected Legacy Cares as one of the recipients to receive a check for $5,000. Their support of local non-profits that serve LGBTQ+ communities in Dallas/Fort Worth is amazing!

February 7 marks National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a moment to recognize the continued, disproportionate impact of HIV on Black communities across the U.S. Black communities continue to experience a disproportionate burden of driven by gaps in care and social determinants of health. In 2023, Black men and Black women had the highest rates of new HIV diagnoses among men and women of all races and ethnicities. That same year, Black people living with HIV experienced the highest levels of HIV-related stigma, alongside elevated rates of poverty and food insecurity.

Entertainment will include world-renowned DJ HECTOR FONSECA, spinning sweet dance tracks, legendary dance music icon Thea Austin from Snap!, and others. February is Black History Month, and Legacy Cares wants to remember those who helped during the AIDS crisis. From launching grassroots education campaigns, forming dedicated organizations, challenging systemic neglect, to those activists, particularly black women, who developed tailored culturally relevant care and prevention strategies when mainstream efforts fell short. The Black community has always demonstrated strength and resilience, and we honor their contributions this month.

This Saturday was Legacy Cares’ first-ever Partner Show, showcasing the amazing talents of our partner organizations! A special thank you to Sue Ellen's for hosting and thanks to Best Drag Shows, DFW Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and
Miss Gay Texas State Pageant System for their performances! We raised some money and had a good time doing it!
