Congratulations to our November Volunteer of the Month: Dick Austin!!!

After retiring, Dick began volunteering at McKenna Farms in 2019 — lending a hand wherever needed, from leading and side walking to cleaning and even parking cars at our Fall Festival. He jokes that he’s “part-time” after years of RV traveling across the U.S., but now that he’s settled just 8 miles away, we’re excited to see more of him around the farm!

Dick says, “McKenna Farms is such a special place. It’s a wonderful resource for kids who need a little extra help, and I always enjoy my time here.” His favorite part of volunteering -- it is a tie between working with the kids and spending time with the horses. Although he thinks Glory walks too fast!

When he’s not helping at the farm, you’ll find him fishing or cheering on his Florida State Seminoles. Thank you, Dick, for sharing your time, heart, and humor with McKenna Farms!

Earlier this month we were getting our Farm ready to host our 21st annual fall festival and were fortunate to have some amazing volunteers from stop by to help us! From all of our staff and horses (including Rocky & Rosie who already showed them some love), THANK YOU!!!

This month we’re celebrating Jeffrey Pesce, who has named our Volunteer of the Month for October. Jeffrey has been part of the McKenna Farms family since 2018! From wrangling and feeding to mucking stalls and showing our horses plenty of love, Jeffrey makes sure our herd is healthy and happy so they can do the incredible work of serving our amazing kids.

Jeffrey says his favorite part of volunteering is “all the unexpected moments of enrichment and blessing.” He does not have a favorite horse because he believes each horse is unique and brings something awesome.

We’re so thankful for Jeffrey for being a part of our team. Please help us give him a huge round of applause for being our October Volunteer of the Month!
