This weeks Corpus Performance staff spotlight is Whitney Mills 👋

Whitney is a residency trained physical therapist from Denton, TX. Growing up she had a passion for sports, which led her to pursue a volleyball career in college. In 2016 she completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Arkansas- Fort Smith, where she found a love for health and fitness. She graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in 2020. Prior to coming aboard, the Corpus team, Whitney worked in Fort Worth treating orthopedic conditions with an emphasis on a conservative approach. Whitney’s passion for working with an active population led her to pursue a residency in sports physical therapy. Through her time as a resident, Whitney gained experience in working alongside strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, and sports medicine physicians, allowing her to treat the athlete with
a holistic approach.

During the residency, Whitney had the opportunity to create post operative protocols and strengthen the rehab continuum from postoperative care to return to sport. Whitney has experience in treating athletes of all ages and activity levels. She believes in an active approach to recovery with an emphasis on manual therapy and evidence-based practice to maximize patient outcomes and quality of life.

When she is not in the clinic, Whitney can be found spending time with her rescue cat, trying new restaurants, hiking, and traveling. She is expecting to get a new puppy soon to which all her free time will be consumed by precious puppy kisses.

Every year we let one of our most faithful Corpus clients, John aka the “WODfather”, put our team through a series of workouts for his birthday. John spends multiple hours scheming, designing, and programming exercises with one goal in mind: make us suffer 😂. This year he programmed five different workouts for us to complete in the span of two hours. To top it all off, John always brings his favorite box of donuts and eats them while he watches us all fight to survive (see picture 4).

Checkout the next post for a few clips from the workout! Happy birthday John!

This weeks staff spotlight is Austin Mankin 👋

Austin joined Corpus in 2022 to help develop their youth athlete performance programs with the goal of training the “whole” athlete.

After several years working with students at his church, Austin caught a vision for how to further reach and invest in students through fitness programs and athletic development. A lifelong athlete, Austin knows the level of influence a coach, trainer, and team can have on a student. Austin was born and raised in Coppell, Texas and participated in every sport as a young athlete. He played basketball competitively all the way through college at the University of Oklahoma and competed in the Sweet 16 in 2015 and reached the Final Four in 2016. While at OU, he played alongside and against multiple NBA players and received professional level training from former NBA head coaches and strength coaches.

After Austin left the University of Oklahoma, he spent several summers a sport camp which further solidified his passion for using sports as a vehicle for discipleship and inspiring wellness in the lives of students. In the following years, Austin obtained his personal training certification and coached students while serving as a student pastor at Watermark Church. Austin believes whole heartedly that sports will either consume and distract a student or be used as an instrumental tool in their personal development and growth as a young man or woman. He knows first-hand what kind of growth is experienced when you devote yourself to the mental and physical discipline of sports and personal training. Even when Austin wasn’t professionally in the athletic performance space, he always had a hand in it through participation in his local CrossFit gym, competing in basketball leagues, and offering one-on-one basketball training.

Austin lives in Richardson with his wife Kirby and their budding athlete, Harvey. He values his family over everything and trains the hardest for his most important role as a husband and father. When he is not up at Corpus, he is taking his family on spontaneous adventures, going to see live music, or volunteering with the student ministry at his church.

Tim specializes in clients returning from injury, mixed modal fitness, cardiovascular fitness, strength training, and sport-specific training.
