Life has a funny way of coming full circle.

Last week, I graduated from the Mavs Business Assist program hosted by the Dallas Mavericks and .

Over a decade ago, my mom and I were Dallas Mavericks season ticket holders. Game after game, season after season, we cheered on the Mavs and even shed tears watching them raise the championship banner after the 2011 NBA Finals.

My mom was an entrepreneur who showed me what it meant to build something of your own. She’s no longer here, but I know she would have celebrated this moment.

Grateful for the chance to grow alongside incredible founders and be part of such an amazing community.

Huge thank you to Kamri Brown and Reed for the work and dedication they put into this program.

Workplace burnout isn’t just a people problem.
It’s often a systems problem.

Honored to present “Leadership in the Red Zone” at SXSW EDU and share strategies to help leaders perform under pressure, reduce burnout, and build healthier, high-performing environments.

Packed room. Powerful conversations.

Busy professionals are burning out quietly.

I’m hosting a free 30-minute Zoom session for busy professionals:
“The Hidden Toll of Always Being the Strong One.”

If you are:
• The reliable one
• The crisis manager
• The calm one in chaos
• The one people lean on
The one who rarely says, “I’m not okay.”

This conversation is for you.

No phones.
No side conversations.
Just full engagement.

And this was after lunch. 😳

During a recent burnout training at the Mental Health America of Greater Dallas Adolescent Symposium, we tried something different.

We leaned into our “Unpacking” theme.
✈️ Flight attendant uniforms
🧳 Luggage props
🎬 A “flight takeoff” video to start the session

Because burnout training should feel relevant, interactive, and practical.

When people only receive information, attention fades.
When learning becomes an experience, engagement increases and conversations become real.

That’s what we strive to create in every workshop at The Remix Center.

When was the last training that actually kept your attention?

When leaders get clarity, campuses feel it.

Honored to deliver this workshop to education leaders at the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators 2026 conference. The AI demo was HILARIOUS because the rooms got real.

Even more special? Running into my high school roommate from our Africa trip and two colleagues from my early teaching days before I even imagined facilitating honest, necessary conversations leaders truly need.

Full circle moments matter.

Two years of impact. Two years of growth. Two years of obedience and purpose.💙💚

THANK YOU to every team member (past and present) Rheatore Culclager, Javon, Latavia, and Brenda, your fingerprints are on this mission.

When we normalize emotions, we take a weight off our shoulders. Unexpressed grief doesn’t disappear. It settles.

I attended a book release for L Michelle Smith, M.S. ACC, moderated by Cynt Marshall. It felt less like a book release and more like a masterclass.

Her values:
Faith. Family. Freedom.

Her analogy for resilience:
The skyscraper that bends but doesn’t break.

Her framework:
• Self work
• Relationship work (involves others)
• World work (involves impact)

Most impactful line:
Stop waiting until you feel 100% ready.

This book belongs on your shelf. It includes 38 powerful reflection questions to help leaders move from insight to action.

At The Remix Center, we believe transformation happens when leaders pause long enough to ask the right questions. This book gives you 38 of them.

Valentine’s Day reminder: love yourself enough to rest.

Somewhere along the way we started believing that burnout means we care more.

You can’t pour from an empty cup.Close the laptop early. Take the walk. Say “not today.”

Consider this your permission slip.

Rest isn’t quitting, it’s how you stay strong.

School leadership is not for the faint of heart.

So many leaders carry the pressures of constant change, competing priorities, and team fatigue.

I’m honored to present at the 2026 Texas Alliance of Black School Educators Conference, supporting school and district leaders and athletic directors who show up every day for others while running on empty themselves.

My session, Leading in the Red Zone, will equip leaders with clear tools and a personalized playbook so that they can think calmly in chaos, communicate with confidence, and protect staff morale when the heat is on.

If you’re attending TABSE and feeling the weight of constant stress and responsibility, I look forward to seeing you.

We were taught to push through.

So glad that Sesame Street in Communities is teaching kids the importance of rest. It's a vital lesson we never received.

This weekend I attended "Black Man: A Mental Health Journey". The performance was deeply vulnerable, chronicling seven men and the burdens they carried. The conversation that followed with the audience and creators (Andre Pitre and Charnele Brown) was just as powerful. We even shared a moment singing the "A Different World" theme song with "Kimberly Reese"!!

The production was a reminder that many men are holding in more than they ever say out loud. Mental health conversations do not only belong in therapy rooms. They belong on stages, in community, and in spaces where men feel safe enough to put the weight down.

The Remix Center is honored to help create those spaces through our work with men and brotherhood groups. We are grateful for every man who has trusted us, spoken up, and made space for others to do the same.
