To see with two eyes means to see both sides of any story. Instead, we see with only one eye, becoming biased people. With a biased mind, we cannot see things as they are.

In Loving Memory of Yogacharya Elizabeth Tackenberg Ma

Loving and Divine Souls,

I humbly bow to God and Shri Gurudev and convey the sad news to all of you that our beloved Yogacharya Elizabeth Tackenberg Ma, who served our Kriya organization for many years as secretary, is no more.

She left her body yesterday, having lived sixty-eight years, nine months, and twenty-three days.

Professionally, she was a highly accomplished architect. She met our beloved Shri Gurudev in New York City in 1982 and was initiated into the sacred path of Kriya Yoga in July 1983.
Under the loving guidance of Shri Gurudev, she deepened her sadhana and was directed to conduct meditation classes in New York City from 1985, and later in the Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas.

I had the privilege of meeting Elizabeth Ma in Vienna before my arrival in the USA in April 1996, and I personally observed her deep devotion to Shri Gurudev and her unwavering commitment to serve.

When Shri Gurudev decided to remain longer in the United States, Elizabeth Ma played a key role in organizing his accommodation in Fort Lauderdale and Margate. She later became an important instrument in the search for the ashram in Florida and generously offered her architectural expertise in the design and development of the new meditation hall.

She was sweet, humble, devoted, and loyal to Shri Gurudev and to the sacred path of Kriya Yoga.

She had not been keeping good health for some time. Her departure to Shri Gurudev is a great loss to our entire Kriya family.

Let us all pray for Elizabeth Ma, and may her life of sadhana and seva continue to inspire us on this sacred path.

I bow to Elizabeth Ma with reverence and offer my prayers for her onward journey.

With Love,
Prajnanananda

Desire in the Money Center:
Money is an essential part of modern life. You need money to live and to survive, so there is a natural desire for money. Muladhara is the place of money. We need to understand first what money means here. It does not mean currency or coins, but the physical resources or buying capacity of a person. Just how much money do we need? To be able to specify that, we have to be either highly spiritual or complete lunatic. We need to regulate this center. We need to carefully weigh our physical and financial needs; material wealth should be like a well-fitting pair of shoes. Desires become a trouble when it remains unregulated. Disciplined desire when directed towards God is devotion.

Excerpt from Life and Values by Paramahamsa Prajnanananda

Man has succeeded in making the world a great place to live, but in the midst of wealth and prosperity, he lives a life of worry and anxiety. Excessive indulgence in sense enjoyment leads to sorrow. Intelligent self-restraint and discipline help us attain a state of permanent joy.

Life and Values presents an easy, clear-cut path for living a productive and happy life. Paramahamsa Prajnanananda, in his inimitable and compassionate style, explains how through meditation and moderation, by analyzing our weaknesses and strengths, cultivating values and living consciously, we can smooth the struggle of everyday life.

We should pray to become stronger, and we should forgive a person who has hurt us. A person who has a strong mind and heart can easily forgive, whereas weak people cannot.

The Bible (Matthew 7:1) says, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” Do not judge something you cannot change, do not expect an apology, and do not become reactive and live in constant unhappiness, anger, or hatred. We spoil our own peace.

Spiritually, compromise is not necessary because God is free from contradiction and conflict. Ultimately, pure love experiences no conflict because pure love has no contradictions.

Disagreement between a teacher and a student is healthy. If a student doesn’t agree with a teacher, it doesn’t mean the teacher will abandon the student. When students try to refute something, they are thinking and analyzing. This is extremely productive because the human mind accepts more when it properly understands.

On the spiritual path you can’t blindly accept whatever a teacher says. The spiritual path is not a blind path. We must open our eyes to see clearly and to navigate the spiritual path. Understand. Analyze. That is the essence of the spiritual mind.
