They say hindsight is 50/50...
And, looking back to my private practice career, about 50% of the decisions I’d do over and over again, and about 50% of the decisions I would 100% do differently.
My private practice career has been one of the most rewarding and overwhelming journeys. My story started back 7 years ago in May of 2019, when I decided to leave my full-time job and take a chance on myself. But, it wasn’t even a chance at the time - it was my calling, my passion, and the only possible route I envisioned myself in. Over the past 7 years, there have been late nights, early mornings, long days, stressed relationships, broken relationships, incredible mistakes made, and life-altering lessons learned.
Today, I’m going to share a glimpse into the decisions that were right AND wrong for me, so that you can walk away from today’s newsletter feeling validated, supported, and ready to build your dream private practice better than I did.
WHAT I DID RIGHT:
1. I did all the non-revenue-generating, annoying, tedious tasks first.
2. I did all the things I could have paid someone to do myself.
3. I waited till I had enough clients lined up.
4. I hired my friends first.
WHAT I DID WRONG:
1. Hired the wrong person.
2. Made decisions that weren’t aligned with my values.
3. Had zero idea of how to pay myself.
4. Had even less of an idea of how to pay my team.
5. Couldn’t figure out when TF to hire.
