Our amazing student liaison!

I joined DAPA as a P1 student and immediately felt a strong connection to the organization. From the very beginning, I felt genuinely supported, like the members and pharmacists truly cared about me as a student and wanted to help in any way they could. It was refreshing to build relationships outside of my school environment while still being surrounded by inspiring pharmacists I could look up to and seek advice from. As I grew throughout pharmacy school, I also grew within DAPA, eventually stepping into the role of student liaison. I have loved helping plan events, contributing ideas, and having the opportunity to use my voice to make a meaningful impact. Now, as a graduating P4 student, I am proud of the difference I have been able to make and even more grateful for the friendships and mentorships I have gained along the way. DAPA has truly shaped my pharmacy school journey, and I will always value being part of such a supportive and empowering community.

Last night at the Tower Club, the Dallas Area Pharmacy Association proudly hosted a successful fundraiser in support of the Texas Pharmacy Association PharmPAC. With close to $20,000 raised, the evening was a powerful reminder of what organized advocacy can accomplish for our profession.

We had the privilege of hearing from Jobby John, Past TPA President and current Chair of the PharmPAC Committee, and RoxAnn Dominguez, CEO of TPA. They spoke candidly about the legislative realities facing pharmacy and why engagement, representation, and financial support through advocacy efforts like PharmPAC are essential to protecting and advancing our scope of practice.

Advocacy is not optional — it is foundational. Policy decisions directly impact how we practice, how we are reimbursed, and how we serve our patients. When we invest in advocacy, we invest in the future of pharmacy.

Last night at the Tower Club, the Dallas Area Pharmacy Association proudly hosted a successful fundraiser in support of the PharmPAC. With close to $20,000 raised, the evening was a powerful reminder of what organized advocacy can accomplish for our profession.

We had the privilege of hearing from Jobby John, Past TPA President and current Chair of the PharmPAC Committee, and Roxann Dominguez, CEO of TPA. They spoke candidly about the legislative realities facing pharmacy and why engagement, representation, and financial support through advocacy efforts like PharmPAC are essential to protecting and advancing our scope of practice.

Joining DAPA was one of the best decisions I have made as a pharmacy student! It has provided me with opportunities to meet other professionals and make valuable connections. I was able to secure a six-month volunteer opportunity at St. Vincent de Paul because I attended the speed networking event in 2024 and was able to meet Dr. Irula, who happily set me up to be a volunteer at his pharmacy. At the monthly meetings, I enjoy learning about new drugs and therapies, and the amazing dinners that are provided are a plus, and they are free for students! I would highly encourage any pharmacy student to join DAPA, as it will definitely elevate their pharmacy school experience!

DAPA was really the starting point of my journey in exploring all the different directions a pharmacist can take. Through DAPA, I was introduced to the industry side of pharmacy and began to see how I could grow professionally beyond traditional roles. What stood out most was the community; meeting and networking with so many individuals who share the same pharmacy training, yet each have completely unique stories and pathways. Being part of DAPA has shown me the power of connection, mentorship, and learning from one another. It’s also been meaningful to give back to the school by helping create opportunities for other students to learn about different drug topics and career paths, so they can make more informed decisions about their own futures.
