🚨Hero Alert!🚨

Dallas Fire-Rescue is proud to honor 3 members who rescued 2 women from a burning two-story, eight-unit apartment building on 12/10/25.

Engine 33 arrived to heavy smoke showing and quickly began a fire attack as conditions inside worsened, multiple life hazards.

Captain Robert Bernal and Engine 14 were conducting a primary search on the second floor in heavy smoke and near-zero visibility. Captain Bernal located an unconscious female in a bedroom and extracted her to the stairwell, where Firefighters Michael Gonzalez and Keith Izzo assisted in carried her to safety and transferring her to EMS. Captain Bernal’s quick actions likely saved her life.

At the same time, another civilian trapped on a second-floor balcony was yelling for help as smoke rapidly filled the apartment. Truck 36 Driver Engineer Rodolfo Barron and Fire Rescue Officer Kyle Clark quickly placed a ground ladder, and assisted the victim down to safety.

🚒🍀 Dallas Fire-Rescue Proudly Marches in the Dallas St. Patrick’s Day Parade 🍀🚓

Today, members of Dallas Fire-Rescue were honored to participate in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade along Greenville Avenue...one of Dallas’ most celebrated traditions. The parade provided a great opportunity for first responders to connect with the community we proudly serve while celebrating a day filled with fun, culture, and camaraderie.

The parade was led by members of the Dallas Fire-Rescue Pipes & Drums, joined by talented players from fire departments from all over who traveled to Dallas to take part in the celebration. Their music helped set the tone for the day and highlighted the strong brotherhood and traditions shared among firefighters everywhere.

Representing their respective departments in the parade were Dallas Fire-Rescue Fire Chief Justin Ball and Dallas Police Department Chief Daniel Comeaux, who joined members of both DFR and DPD in greeting paradegoers and demonstrating the strong partnership between our public safety agencies.

Dallas Fire-Rescue is grateful for the opportunity to be part of this long-standing Dallas tradition and to spend the day celebrating safely with our community. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the parade...and to the many first responders who helped ensure the event was safe and enjoyable for all.

🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Dallas!

🚒🔥 3 Fireground Excellence Awards and an Outstanding Unit Citation for another Life Saved by members of Dallas Fire-Rescue

Dallas Fire-Rescue proudly recognizes Lieutenant Daniel Civello, Fire Rescue Officer Christopher Hurst, and Fire Rescue Officer Andres Udria with individual Fireground Excellence Awards, along with the members of Engine 30, Truck 43, Engine 35, Rescue 30, and Rescue 41, who were awarded an Outstanding Unit Citation for their coordinated efforts during a structure fire rescue that saved a civilian life.

On February 10, 2026, crews responded to a reported structure fire at 3163 Modella Avenue. Engine 30 arrived to find heavy fire showing from the Alpha side of a one-story residence with conditions rapidly deteriorating and a reported life hazard inside.

Operating in rescue mode, Engine 30 initiated a Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search (VEIS) on a Delta-side window to locate the trapped occupant. As fire conditions intensified and flames began lapping at the window—the crew’s only exit point—the firefighters worked with urgency and discipline inside the IDLH environment.

Lieutenant Civello and Fire Rescue Officer Hurst located the victim during the search and moved her to the window for removal. At the sill, Fire Rescue Officer Udria maintained the exit point, extinguishing advancing fire and preserving the only viable escape path before safely extricating the victim.

Meanwhile, the additional responding units played critical roles in fire attack, ventilation, search, and rescue support, ensuring conditions improved and the rescue could be completed safely.

The victim was removed and transferred to awaiting medical personnel. Without the decisive and coordinated actions of these firefighters, the outcome could have been tragic.

👏 Congratulations to all members recognized for this life-saving rescue.

Today members of DFR Urban Search and Rescue Team (USAR) were dispatched to a call in which a man needed help but was unreachable by standard means near a steep embankment.

The man was homeless and believed to be under the influence of an unknown intoxicant. The USAR team was called. When they arrived, they secured the patient into a Stokes basket and used a rope system to raise him to street level, where an ambulance was waiting. He was uninjured but taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Great job, y’all! 👏🚒🚨

🚨THIS IS ONLY A DRILL🚨

Our USAR team spent the morning training sharpening their skills for high angle rescues and victim extraction from this 14 story building. In this scenario, the person is trapped and is not reachable by a ladder truck.

Great job, USAR 33!
