Heart disease kills more Americans every year than all cancers combined. It claimed nearly 700,000 lives in 2020 alone — that’s 1 in every 5 deaths. And yet, most people still don’t understand how it works.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
📝 Coronary Artery Disease (CAD):
Plaque builds up in the arteries, restricting blood flow to the heart. It can silently progress for years before triggering a heart attack, chest pain (angina), or heart failure.
📝 Arrhythmias:
Irregular heart rhythms like Afib can lead to stroke or sudden cardiac arrest. That “harmless flutter” might not be so harmless after all.
📝 Heart Failure:
The heart muscle weakens and can’t pump blood effectively. Organs begin to starve for oxygen. Fluid builds up. The result? Fatigue, swelling, and shortness of breath — often mistaken for aging.
📝 Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD):
Plaque isn’t just a heart problem — it can block blood flow to your legs, arms, even brain. PAD increases your risk of heart attack and stroke.
📝 Congenital Heart Disease:
Present at birth, sometimes invisible until adulthood. Fatigue, swelling, arrhythmia, and shortness of breath may be the only clues.
📝 Heart disease doesn’t always announce itself with pain. It whispers — until it shouts. Don’t ignore fatigue, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations.
Prevention isn’t a guess. It’s a science.
