The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and the Center for BrainHealth are hosting a free Brain Health Open House on February 21, featuring interactive stations on sleep, nutrition, stress management, and exercise. Guests can meet with brain health experts and enjoy healthy snacks from H‑E‑B.

Participating branches will also offer a zero joiner’s fee for new members through February.

Over the past few weeks, our Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) team has been busy connecting with veterans, families, and community partners across North Texas. 💙

They joined the MLK Jr. Branch Library Community Health Fair, met with Service Members and families at VROC’s first Veterans & Families Resource Fair of the year (with a special visit from Rowlett Mayor Jeff Winget), and hosted two empowering Women Veteran events — their Sisterhood in Service Social Hour in Rowlett and a warm, community‑focused Women Veteran Meet‑Up in Dallas. 🌟

Last Friday, Metrocare, in partnership with Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS), proudly celebrated the launch of a Public Health Vending Machine at our Lancaster Kiest Adult Mental Health Clinic 🧡

This evidence-based initiative provides free, discreet access to lifesaving and essential supplies, including Narcan (naloxone), health and hygiene kits, and harm reduction resources. Since installation, the vending machine has already recorded 350+ successful transactions.

Huge thank you to our dedicated staff, community partners, and elected officials, including State Representative Toni Rose - Texas, Dallas County Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins, Commissioner John Wiley Price, and Dr. Philip Huang (DCHHS), who joined CEO Dr. John Burruss in supporting innovation that strengthens public health across Dallas County.

Earlier this month, our Metrocare team joined the 2026 MLK Fest to help clean up along MLK Blvd—cold weather, warm purpose. 🧡

As Dr. King reminded us, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” We are grateful to the team members who showed up in unity and service.
