I know you have heard it before, but breakfast IS the most important meal of the day! However, maybe not for the reasons you may be thinking.

The way you start your day sets the tone for how the rest of your day will go. If you start your day with a carbohydrate-heavy meal that is low in protein and fat, you may feel full and energized for a few hours, but trust me, come mid-morning or early afternoon you are going to experience a massive energy crash, cravings, or an intense desire to take a nap.

The swaps I have listed in this post are pretty basic, but the change you will feel in your energy levels, mood, and mental clarity will be worth it!!

if i’ve learned anything over the past few years as a dietitian, it is that food is SO much more than just something we put in our mouths every single day🍩🍇🍔🥬

food is fuel.💪🏼 it’s medicine.🌡 it is therapeutic 🧠 and it is also incredibly powerful!!💥

i know for me, my relationship with food has changed over the years. this is normal as we pursue different goals, and evolve as humans. when i was younger, i just viewed food as fuel, something to give me energy to get me through practice or a gymnastics meet. then as i got older, food started to become a source of discord as i was going through high school trying to take up as little space as possible. then as i got into college, food started to become fun for me; i loved learning about how different nutrients pair together and how that effects different processes in the body. now i’m at a point in my life where food is my medicine.

something that i haven’t opened up too much about is that not only do i have poly cystic ovarian syndrome ( for short) but i also recently discovered some autoimmune issues going on inside my body. i’m not ready to open up fully about that, but for right now i’m focusing a lot more on how the food i am eating is either harming or healing my body.🩹

your relationship with food can change, and that is O K A Y ! ! !

especially when the weather gets cold (i’m looking at you, high of 46°🥴), i always love something hot to sip on! this golden milk latte mix is the PERFECT thing to not only warm me up inside, but also because it contains one of my favorite superfoods, turmeric!

i’ve been adding turmeric to my meals, smoothies and basically any food i can for years because of the amazing benefits, and now just made it a whole lot easier to get my daily dose of wellness!

a few of my favorite ways to incorporate it:
mixed in hot water with a dash of coconut milk and a drizzle of honey🍯
stirred in to a nice big bowl of almond milk yogurt🥄
blended in a post-workout smoothie🏋🏼‍♀️

why do you workout?!

is it to achieve a certain aesthetic? is it to lose weight? is it to build muscle?
too often we view getting in the gym, getting a good sweat or moving our body is a form of “punishment” for not being where you want to be or for falling off track...

this is a question i think EVERYONE should ask themselves: would you still workout if there weren’t any visual changes that would occur?🧐

if you would have asked me this a few years ago i would have said HECK no.🥵 that’s because i was viewing my daily workout as something i needed to do in order to check it off my list, instead of something more.

now, when i ask myself that question i say heck FREAKIN yes i would still workout!💪🏼
my training sessions are my “me” time. they help me de-stress, they help me be more focused the rest of the day, they just make me FEEL good (thank you endorphins)!

so i challenge you to ask yourself that question because your workouts should leave you feeling better NOT worse!

for all my ladies out there, i promised you this post and now i’m FINALLY ready to share! (really just needed to get around to taking the photo… keeping it real😂)

a few weeks ago, i shared about this topic on my stories and got so much positive feedback from y’all wanting to know more. so i am going to tell you a few things you need to know about seed cycling! what it is, how to do it, and why you should!

as a woman, our hormones fluctuate at different times throughout the month, seed cycling is a way to support those fluctuations and give your body the nutrients it needs to cycle optimally.

🖤during the menstrual and follicular phases (1st day of your period until ovulation, about day 14 depending on cycle length) you will consume 1 Tbsp EACH of pumpkin seeds and ground flaxseed. these will help support the natural increase of estrogen in this phase and regulate androgen levels.

🖤during the ovulatory and luteal phases (first day of ovulation until your next cycle) you will consume 1 Tbsp EACH of sunflower and sesame seeds. these are known to help stimulate progesterone production and clear excess estrogen.
