Let's face it: it's not comfortable to talk about the end of life, but it doesn't mean that it is not important. When the time comes, you still want your family to be ready and aware of your wishes.

Today is National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD) in which people from around the country encourage others to spend time talking about or planning important healthcare decisions.

Some of these decisions include:

- At what point would I choose palliative care (focus on pain control) versus aggressive treatment?
- Do I want to create a living will or advance directive?
- Who will I designate as a medical power of attorney if I cannot speak on behalf of myself?
- Would I want to be an organ or tissue donor?
- Are there any life saving treatments such as CPR, ventilation, or feeding tube that I would not want done to me?
- and many more.

Remember, your family and loved ones are not mind readers and won't recall something you said in passing 5 years ago (hypothetically). If you want to have your wishes acknowledged and followed through, take steps to be intentional with discussing end of life care.

Grief and stress are two emotions that can take physical tolls on the body and mind, but can be soothed by certain activities like meditation.

Join us on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 6:00 PM to learn about meditation and pre-planning with our Stress Less with a Pre-Plan: Learn Meditation & Pre-Planning. We are partnering with Breathe Meditation and Wellness to learn how to meditate and will be guided through a meditation to help calm and soothe your mind and body.

Are you planning on watching the Dallas Stars on April 13th on Victory+ as the Stars play the Toronto Maple Leafs?
If so, you might catch a picture of our very own Star!
Star, our grief therapy dog, has been submitted into Tyler Seguin’s K91 contest where a select few furry fans will be highlighted on TV!

Fun Fact: Did you know that Star is named after the Dallas Stars? Her owners, DeWayne and Stephanie Hughes, are HUGE Dallas hockey fans, so her name came quite naturally to them. We love our Star just as much as we love the Dallas Stars! 💚⭐️🤍

Our Story

Hughes Family Tribute Center is more than a basic funeral home. This company is a Life Celebration funeral home with certified funeral celebrants who understand the best options to honor the memory of a loved one. Full Life Celebration and Funeral Home services are offered throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth communities. The company is dedicated to personalized funeral services, with an unwavering focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

A complete menu of services is offered for families in the area: cemetery and burials, life celebrations, traditional funeral services, memorial ceremonies, honoring life, vaults and caskets, pre-need uneral services, grief resources, veteran services, military honors, transfer to other states, ship-out services, ship-in services, world-wide shipping, and more. Every funeral service is designed to match the requests and needs of the family. Hughes Family Tribute Center is the only funeral home in Dallas, Texas to earn the Pursuit of Excellence Award, granted by The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). This recognition is unique since only 150+ funeral homes receive the award around the world.

The on-site crematory owned by Hughes Family Tribute Center ensures quality services when cremation is selected by the family. A common choice is to pair cremation services with a Life Celebration or memorial. This combination of services provides a time for friends and family to heal from the loss by sharing memories of the loved one. Additionally, the family has flexibility regarding the final resting place since ashes are not limited to cemetery burial. Hughes Family Tribute Center offers various urns and memorial options for the resting place of the ashes if desired.

This Life Celebration funeral home is committed to providing respectful services catered to all personal, cultural, and religious needs. The team offers the same level of care for families from all walks of life, with a goal to represent the diversity of people who live in the Dallas-Fort Worth communities. Hughes Family Tribute Center has experience with a variety of cultural traditions and ceremonies, including Buddhist, Asian, Asian Indian, and Hindu services.
