Breast reduction is both a functional and aesthetic procedure. This patient, age 50, presented with a long history of excessively heavy breasts that contributed to neck, shoulder, and lower back pain for over a decade. She measured as a DDD with significant drooping and no size imbalance between sides.

Surgery involved removing 2,190 grams of excess skin and tissue (approximately five pounds total) to reduce weight, reposition the breast, and restore support. Following the procedure, the patient reported resolution of her pre-operative symptoms.

Significant weight loss can improve overall health, but it often leaves behind excess skin that cannot be corrected with exercise alone.

In this case, my patient experienced over 135 pounds of weight loss after gastric bypass surgery and developed recurrent rashes beneath the remaining abdominal skin. These issues are common when the panniculus (overhanging fat on the lower abdomen) creates moisture and friction against the skin. A panniculectomy was performed to remove approximately 5,588 grams, or roughly 12 pounds, of excess skin and tissue.
