As we celebrate women’s history month, NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 would like to honor four Unstoppable Women who give their all to their community.
Our first Unstoppable Woman Is Ana Cruz Hollingsworth, founder of Rollos de Mujeres (Ana Cruz). She has built a 17-year career across radio, television, and digital media, but today, we honor her for her passionate commitment to help Carter BloodCare’s mission to save lives by providing essential blood products to North Texas. Ana talks about her induction into the National Blood Donation Hall of Fame, her work with Carter BloodCare, and how she became an advocate for blood donation after the birth of her youngest son. Our next Unstoppable Woman is Estella Williams, President of the NAACP Fort Worth Tarrant County. She is a former National Civil Rights Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a distinguished civil rights leader, and the first female president in the 92-year history of the Fort Worth Tarrant County NAACP branch. She has over 20 years of business experience; she has worked with professional organizations; and volunteers with national, state and local non-profits. Phyllis Slocum is the president of the Lone Star EMMY Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Her career spans 50 years. She is a professor at the University of North Texas where she teaches upper level and graduate studies in media and serves as a principal lecturer. She is the converge broadcast media advisor and internship coordinator. She is also the manager of North Texas Television, ntTV. Phyllis talks about her journey into journalism and her work with UNT students. Phyllis Slocum is our Unstoppable Woman.
