Thirty years ago, a group of knitters at Watermark noticed local students needed warmer winter clothes. And so, a tradition began. 11,000 handmade sweaters later, they continue to meet weekly and cherish all the photos of kids they’ve helped. It's Native American Heritage Month
The Fountains at Sea Bluffs is lucky to have an Acjachemen Native American as the Community Life Director. Her aunt and a few other Native Americans came to talk about various subjects. Everyone was fortunate enough to watch the dancing, listen to signing, drumming and hear a flute with its beautiful tranquil sounds. Sage was burned, and dancers in full regalia entered the area to perform. Fry bread with honey was also served and enjoyed by the pool area. It was a beautiful day and an excellent way to learn a little more about the Native Americans that lived here and that they are still here and thriving.
