🌟 Community in Action! 🌟

This past weekend, Danbury Hospital hosted its annual Mission Health Day, a wonderful event dedicated to supporting families in need through free health education, screenings, and resources.

Havencare was proud to participate by donating beanies and tote bags to help spread warmth and care to our neighbors. ❤️

A huge thank you to Nuvance Health for organizing such a meaningful event and for giving us the opportunity to be part of it. Together, we’re building a healthier, stronger community!

Join Havencare at Filosa as we celebrate Nurisng Home Appreciation Week. This year’s theme is "Tapestry of Life," which illustrates the connections we share with our residents and among ourselves.

The "Tapestry of Life" theme serves as a powerful reminder of the relationships that weave our community together. Each resident’s unique story and experiences are like individual threads, contributing to a rich fabric that is enriched by the care, compassion, and dedication of our staff. This week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate those connections, highlighting the meaningful interactions that enhance the lives of our residents.

Throughout the week, we will have special celebrations and activities that focus on strengthening our bond with residents. It’s a two for terrific Tuesday (say that 10X fast!) today here at Havencare at Hancock Hall & Havencare at Filosa!

I would like to introduce you to this months well deserved employees of the month!

⭐️Frist, meet Karen! Karen has been in our recreation department at Havencare at Hancock Hall for just over two years. What drew her to our facilities is her passion to connect with the geriatric population and her love of fun & games! Karen has a 94 year old Dad whom she spends a lot of her free time with, and enjoys sharing stories and memories with him. Prior to entering the recreation department, she was a teacher who held the same passion to help others and connect with everyone she meets. Karen absolutely LOVES games, and you can usually find her playing Mahjong and Cansta. With our residents she is gentle, kind, and provides creative and enriching programs!

⭐️ Next, meet Donna. Donna has been in the recration department at Havencare at Filosa for just over two years. Donna’s heartbeat is recration, as she has formal education and training specifically to connect with individuals through activities and creative programing! A fun fact is that both her and her husband are employed in recreation and often collaborate on new and exciting projects! Donna is also a former physical education teacher of 12 years, where she transfered her love of of fitness and education to her students. In her free time you can always find her moving, whether its’s paddle boarding, kayaking, or running marathons, she loves to remain active! With our residents, she keeps the energy flowing and spirits high with her creativity and enthusiasm!

We are so lucky to have a recreation department full of staff members just like Karen and Donna. The work they do is essential to our residents wellbeing, and they bring a smile to their faces every day. We are so thankful for you, Karen & Donna!

‘Helping to heal’, a phrase that drives what we do every day, not only for our current employees but for the future caregivers of the world.

Havencare at Hancock Hall & Havencare at Filosa is so proud to host the next generation of caregivers from various local nursing and CNA progams. This semester, we welcomed students from the Immaculate High School CNA program into our facilities for a hands-on learning experience. These students have shown such incredible drive, compassion, and commitment to becoming the best caregivers to serve our communities.

The feedback we have gotten from our students say it all, with one student who states that when she “started working at at Havencare at Hancock Hall, a Danbury nursing home, she didn’t think she could become more passionate about nursing. But she did”.
