It’s Alcohol Awareness Month... a time to take a closer, more honest look at how alcohol shows up in our lives and in our communities.
For many, alcohol is just that: a drink, a toast, a moment shared with friends or family and nothing more.
But for 57 million Americans, it’s something else. It’s a pattern that can impact health, safety and overall well-being in ways that often go unnoticed or unspoken. And it doesn’t always look the way people assume. It can show up in everyday moments, in habits that feel normal, in situations that don’t raise red flags.
That’s why this month matters.
Not to judge. Not to stigmatize. But to raise awareness, encourage reflection and open the door to real conversations. Because when we remove judgment, we make it easier for people to be honest about their experiences and more willing to seek support if they need it.
So where do we go from here? We check in with ourselves. We pay attention to patterns, not just moments. We check in with the people around us, even when it feels uncomfortable. And we create space for honest, judgment-free conversations that prioritize health and well-being.
If you or someone you know may be struggling, talk to a family member, a friend, or your doctor.
