Groundhog Day asks the same question every year: will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow and predict six more weeks of winter, or signal an early spring? ❄️🌷

For many people, that waiting is more than a seasonal tradition. It reflects what Seasonal Affective Disorder can feel like. Days start to blur together. Sunlight feels limited. Energy is low. Emotional heaviness can settle in and be hard to shake. 🌥️

Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a form of depression connected to changes in daylight and daily routine. Shorter days can affect sleep, energy levels and mood, making even small tasks feel more difficult during the winter months.

This is the Groundhog Day paradox. That feeling of being stuck between “almost there” and “not yet,” waiting for light, warmth and momentum to return. Whether winter lasts six more weeks or not, what you’re feeling right now is valid. 💙

Support can help. Light exposure, movement, connection and mental health care all play an important role in managing SAD. And if winter feels especially heavy, reaching out to a healthcare or mental health professional can help you find strategies that work for you.

Spring will come. Until then, you are not weak for feeling this way, and you do not have to navigate it alone.

We’re shining a light on healthcare’s unsung heroes: our surgical residents. ✨

Inside the Danbury Hospital simulation center, they’re doing more than building their own skills. They’re showing up as teachers and mentors, guiding medical students through hands-on experiences that shape how they’ll care for patients. 🩺📚

These residents make time to invest in others. Their guidance helps students build confidence, think critically and navigate high-pressure moments with empathy and intention.

Thank you for the long hours, the patience and the commitment to those who will carry this work forward. 🤍

Breast health myths still circulate far too often. 🍒

That’s why we’re continuing the conversation with Part 2.

There’s a lot of confusion around age, risk symptoms and screening, and some of the information people rely on is outdated or simply incorrect.

In this next part, Dr. Christina Wolchok helps break down fact versus fiction and shares what’s important to know when it comes to breast health.

Better information leads to earlier care, stronger self-advocacy and more confident health decisions for yourself and the people we love. 💗

The first FDA-approved oral GLP-1 pill has officially hit the U.S. market, and there are no needles involved. ❌

Whether you prefer a daily pill or a weekly shot, GLP-1 therapy can support weight loss goals. It really comes down to what fits your lifestyle best.

The pill 💊
✨ No needles. No equipment. Just a daily routine
⏰ Must be taken on an empty stomach with a 30-minute wait before eating or drinking
🎯 Works best if you have a consistent morning routine

The shot 💉
🗓️ Once a week. Set it and forget it
⚡ Often associated with stronger results due to higher dosing
🧊 Requires refrigeration and some planning if you travel

Both options contain the same active ingredient. The biggest difference is how you take it and how well it fits into your day-to-day life.

If you’re exploring GLP-1s, a conversation with your doctor can help you decide what’s right for you, whether that’s medication, bariatric care or another weight management option. Taking control of your health is a brave first step. 💙

A relentless pounding sound in her ear changed everything. And ultimately led to hope, healing and a remarkable act of generosity. 💙

For months, Sheila Perrin lived with a constant pulsing sound in her ear that disrupted her sleep, focus and quality of life. What was first believed to be tinnitus turned out to be something far more serious: a rare brain condition called a dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF).

Sheila was treated by Dr. Jon Lebovitz at Danbury Hospital. He performed an advanced, minimally invasive brain procedure to cure the condition.

“As soon as I woke up, the pounding sound was gone! I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I only had one little dot on my wrist. It didn’t feel like I’d had brain surgery.”

Grateful for the life-changing care she received, Sheila and her husband, Charles, made a transformational $2 million gift to advance neurosciences and workforce development at Danbury Hospital, supporting both future patients and the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Thank you, Sheila and Charles!

Your generosity is a profound gift to this community. It will expand access to life changing care, strengthen the healthcare workforce and impact countless lives for years to come.

Your story reminds us of what is possible when exceptional care, innovation and gratitude come together. ✨
