POMFRET Taft Pond Road Bridge Replacement - Road Closure April 1st

CT Department of Transportation is announcing that bridge construction will be performed on Taft Pond Road at Mashamoquet Brook in the Town of Pomfret starting on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. There will be a road closure on Taft Pond Road from Wednesday, April 1st through Monday, November 30, 2026. Traffic detours will be in place.

* Plan on slippery road conditions during Tuesday's evening commute and Wednesday morning.

Use caution and slow down always when driving in hazardous weather conditions. ❄️💦🚗

With tomorrow's wintry mix on the way a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the northern half of the state.

A bit of icing will lead to some slick spots on untreated roads, driveways, and sidewalks.

A parking ban will be placed for all public roadways in the Town of Killingly from Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 7:00pm until Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 9:00am.

As a reminder, parking bans are typically put in place when the forecast calls for the potential of one (1) inch or more of snow. However, during any type of winter weather, parking off the streets helps the snow removal crews more efficiently clean the streets. Please do not push snow from your driveway out into or across the road as well as the sidewalk. Please make sure all garbage/recycling bins are off the street. All basketball hoops should be moved off the street and far enough back that the hoop portion does not overhang into the street and interferes with snow removal equipment. Please be sure to remove your vehicles from the street so our highway department crews can clear off the street efficiently. Vehicles left on the street will be subject to ticketing and may be towed at the owner’s expense.
