New research just uncovered something BIG inside our kids’ gut microbiomes… and it connects autism, ADHD, and anorexia.

A new study looking at the gut microbiomes of kids with autism, ADHD, and anorexia found that all three groups share a very similar imbalance in their gut bacteria.
Scientists found:
• Lower diversity in the microbiome (less “good variety”)
• A higher Bacteroidetes-to-Firmicutes ratio
• Lower levels of certain beneficial bacteria like Faecalibacterium
• Higher levels of inflammatory or disruptive bacteria in some groups
This is huge, because these conditions seem so different… yet their gut patterns look surprisingly alike.
👉 It reinforces what so many of us are experiencing firsthand:
When the gut microbiome is out of balance, our kids can struggle with mood, sleep, attention, resilience, behavior, appetite, and emotional regulation.
And here’s the hopeful part…
We can shift the gut.
Over the past few years, we’ve watched families (including my own) see real changes when they start supporting the gut-brain axis with targeted psychobiotics:
✨ More calm
✨ Better emotional resilience
✨ Improved focus and attention
✨ Deeper, more consistent sleep
✨ Smoother transitions
✨ More flexibility and less overwhelm
No, psychobiotics aren’t a “cure.”
But they do support the microbiome in ways that help the brain function better — especially for neurodivergent kids or kids who struggle with anxiety, irritability, impulsivity, or sleep.
✨ This new research shows that we can’t just look at behavior from the neck up.
Our kids’ mental health isn’t separate from their biology — it’s deeply connected to the tiny ecosystem in their gut.
So if your child is struggling…
If you’re overwhelmed…
If you feel like you’ve tried the “behavioral strategies” and nothing is moving…
There might be something happening in the gut that deserves a closer look.
And the good news?
Supporting the gut is gentle, safe, and has ripple effects throughout the whole body.

A new, small study suggests children with autism, ADHD, and anorexia share similarly disrupted gut microbiomes, which, by some measures, have more in common with each other than with their healthy, neurotypical peers.
