With some last minute help, the Derby finished at $11,856!!!!! 9 of 15 horses made it to $1000 in sponsorships! That is sooo amazing everyone!! Thank you all for playing along!! It was great fun!!
This is the last couple of days of this term and we want to wish you all a very blessed and Merry Christmas and Gods blessings into the new year! We CAN’T run this program without you all! We are thankful for every volunteer, whether it’s in the arena or cleaning stalls or stacking hay or working on the fence line (yikes what a job!) or cutting wood or helping when the farrier visits or feeding when I can’t be here or any of our fun events…. THANK YOU!! Heart of service is a great gift, thank you for sharing your service here!
Thank you everyone who shares their resources through straight donations, tithing, supporting fundraising events, donations of items needed, donations of services, in memorial donations, year end giving and supporting us in grant writing. THANK YOU so very much!!

Another Christmas Open House is put away…, another CHUM DERBY, memories for another day! But during the tear down we had several messages from those who wanted to help us get each horse closer to the goal of $1000 per horse!
Bravo and Boon added little, Teresa brought Georgia to her goal, and Miss Mollie put enough in the derby to bring 6 more horses to their goal of $1000! So amazing, these horses have touched us like this! Here is where each horse is at 🙂!

And the horses are still shuffling for position!! Twiz is pouring on the speed again! Closing in on Georgia! But here comes Mackenzie now!! Mackenzie is passing Twiz and Georgia!! Favor is now in the move! Favor is pulling away from them both! He just passed Captain…..and Max!Max is making a run in the group too! Max just took Favors place back and is running neck and neck with Honor! Twiz is not done yet! Twiz just passed Georgia….now Captain! Max has pushed just ahead of Honor! Jack has just crossed the finish line…Penny is second…Bravo is third..Serenity is fourth….Luna in 5th…G is sixth… Max is 7th…Honor is eighth…Favor in ninth….Twiz is tenth…Captain in eleventh…..Mackenzie is 12th…..Georgiais 13th…Chance is 14th as he and Boone in 15th cross the finish line for the 2025 CHUM DERBY!!!

The horses are making their dash for the finish line!! They are nearly at the grandstand! Max has sped up a little closer to Honor. Twiz is trying to g to get closer to Georgia! Oh man! And now Serenity is passing G!! And look! Favor is on the move!! He has just passed Captain! He’s still going… Favor is at Max’s tail…now the shoulder… Favor has passed Max! Penny has moved up a little as has Bravo!! Come on everyone let’s bring them home! 50 minutes left!!

Oh no!! The therapy horses in this years CHUM DERBY seem to be losing steam! They are approaching the Grandstand but are less eager to move forward with gusto! Are they aware we have just about 24 hours before the Derby is over for another year? Are they waiting for you to be a sponsor for one of the therapy horses, to help move them along in this very last segment of this years ‘race’?! Please help energize our horses to finish with a flourish! Give them the energy to move onward to the grandstands with their heads high knowing they have it their all! The race is over tomorrow!

Oh look! Thank you sponsor who helped Bravo in Nella’s name! She would be so pleased! Twiz is no longer behind Mackenzie…. Twiz is now a neck in front of Mackenzie!! Chance has put a little more distance from Boon….haha but they are both just trotting along behind the others!!

It’s coming together thanks to amazing volunteers! Christmas Open House tomorrow from 10-3!! We have reindeer races set up, snowball with Santa, Christmas bean bag toss, pin the nose on Olaf games are coming and a place to write to Santa! We will have Santa with us from 11-2 with photo opportunities as well as pictures with you favorite horse! Gifts for the kids, hot cider and treats, and a Buy It Now Santa Shop! Jeff’s amazing world of Christmas inflatables will be setting up soon! Can’t wait to see you and the kids here at CHUM tomorrow 10-3!!! Welcome in Christmas with us and be here for the CHUM DERBY Big Finish Line!

I am so thrilled! We have just achieved 2/3 of our goal for this event! We can make this happen yet! We can make our goal by Sat! Go horses go!!

These amazing horses are doing it again! They are ‘jockeying’ for positions! They know they are on the final stretch ‘running at the finish line up ahead’!! First it’s Penny with some new found energy pushing to close the gap a little more….. WAIT…..WHATS THIS??!! There! Do you see him? There..in the middle of this field of horses ‘running for funds’ in this CHUM DERBY!! ITS BRAVO!!! Bravo is now surging forward! Bravo has passed Luna….coming up on Honor…and never gives him a glance as Bravo flys past! Still going…Bravo is coming up on Serenity…at his shoulder…. Now neck and neck…pulling ahead… Bravo has pulled ahead of Serenity and is on G’s tail! Bravo is passing G. The crowd is going nuts! Everyone is on their feet screaming for their favorite horse as they leave turn 4! Oh man! Look to the back group again! Captain is now pressing on! He is leaving Twiz who he has been running with nearly this whole ‘race’ ! Captain is now side by side with Mackenzie… running hard now… leaving Mackenzie behind, Captain is passing Georgia…. And now Captain has pulled ahead of Favor!! Luna must have heard him coming and she is once again pouring on more speed! She has passed Honor…oooh look at the look he got 🙂, now ears back and running fast Luna passes Serenity…still going…Luna is JUST in front of G!!! Twiz, having lost his running buddy has moved up to be side by side with Mackenzie! Mackenzie isn’t having that and has pushed his neck out to be just barely a nose in front of Twiz! …And through all of this excitement…. Chance and Boon seemed to be trotting along at the back in no particular hurry 🙂! Thank you all who are enjoying this year’s 2025 CHUM DERBY! As you can see from previous posts over the past 3+ weeks we are having so much fun ‘announcing this running of our therapy horses Derby’ raising funds for CHUM!! We are in the final few days of the Derby! The ‘finish line’ is this Saturday Dec 6 at our Christmas Open House with Santa, games and prizes, pics with the horses, and our Santa shop!
The horses are coming through the final turn!! And we would like to thank all our sponsors who are participating here, and I see we have received more sponsors this Giving Tuesday as I see movement in the turn!!
Jack is still holding on to the lead but Penny has found some more speed and is pulling away from Serenity and chasing down Jack! Penny is a full length…now two lengths……….now 3 and still going! Penny is now 4 lengths in front of Serenity! And there goes G! G is chasing after Bravo,….he has passed Bravo……G is side by side of Luna but only for a breath…. G is passing Honor and is on Serenity’s tail!! I can’t believe this! G has passed Serenity!! Luna is sprinting forward! She is still staying just in front of Bravo! Oh …… My……Goodness!!! Max…..yes it’s Max!!! Our beautiful paint from the UP!! He’s moving up the field!! Max has passed Mackenzie……challenging Georgia and Favor running’ side by side! Max is passing them! Max is in front of Georgia and Favor by nearly a length!! Favor is pulling away from Georgia by a neck!!! What a race!!!! Still anyone can win this race!
