NFI Massachusetts, Inc. is a human services organization dedicated to maximizing potential!

For nearly four decades, NFI Massachusetts has successfully helped thousands of youth, families and adults with diverse needs to make positive changes in their lives, to achieve personal goals and experience the full promise of life in their communities. NFI’s broad range of mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice, educational and rehabilitative programs include home-based services, supported living, residential treatment and foster care programs. Working in close partnership with those we serve, our programs are supported by an experienced, highly committed, interdisciplinary staff comprised of clinicians, case managers, counselors, nurses, teachers, administrators and medical/psychiatric professionals who employ a highly collaborative team approach to providing treatment. Our services embrace and utilize:

Person-centered approaches
Evidence-based and best treatment practices
Gender-responsive, trauma-informed and culturally responsive care for all individuals and families
Family preservation or reunification strategies

Thank you to the United Way and their Thanksgiving Project! With their help, the staff at the Lowell Family Resource Center were able to distribute 100 Thanksgiving bags and 100 Market Basket gift cards to community members.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance, and NFI wants to remember all who have lost their lives to acts of anti-transgender violence. It is important to listen to voices within the trans community on days like this, so here is Transgender Day of Remembrance founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith on its importance:

"Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people — sometimes in the most brutal ways possible — it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.”

Yesterday, our own Director of Operations, Holly Lawrence, had the honor of testifying before the Senate Committee on Juvenile Justice and Emerging Adult Justice alongside the Massachusetts Youth Diversion Program.

Youth Diversion provides an alternative to arrest for young people involved with the justice system, and Holly advocated for equitable access to diversion services for young people across the state.
