SELF CARE DAY! How do you self care? Today, I created my own multi modality therapy experience at home, thanks to my penchant for self care/wellness gadgets and an early finish with clients. After completing my own heavy lift and 10k steps, it was โ€œme timeโ€

She ran in โ€˜13 after deferring her 2012 run due to excessive heat concerns that year. The afternoon of the race, my parents were bringing my sisterโ€™s kids to the finish line to meet her, when they were stopped a few blocks out, due to the bombing. No communication. Nerve wracking and chaotic. My family and I were in Washington DC in a museum when we got a call from a friend asking for my sisterโ€™s bib number to track her. My sister had been pulled off the course about 2m from the finish. At first she didnโ€™t know why. Then the reality set in. I canโ€™t fathom what was going through her head but Iโ€™m so grateful she was ok and able to connect with her family within a few hours of the chaos. ๐Ÿ’•

As we watch todayโ€™s athletes, we will remember those impacted forever by the events of 2013 and pray for the safety and security of todayโ€™s racers, spectators, volunteers, and first responders along the route. ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

On this marathon eve, I wanted to share my father-in-lawโ€™s inspiring story of โ€œmovement as medicineโ€. In this first photo, he is wearing his 15 medals ๐Ÿ… for completing the 26.2m marathon route on behalf of the Jimmy Fund. A two time cancer survivor, Mike used a daily walking regimen to bring himself back to strength and to keep his mind focused on healing.

โ€œBetween 1987 & 2005 I participated in and finished 15 Walks. The walking course is the exact 26.2 mile Boston Marathon route. Over the 15 years I raised thousands of dollars for the Jimmy Fund. As an offshoot of the walk, I created a website Fitwalker1 (No longer in use). I also created a walking class (Fitwalking for life) that was added to the Night School Curriculum at Woburn High School. Some of my students participated in the 26.2 mile walk.โ€

Eat dessert. ๐Ÿจ sleep better. I wanted something yummy but healthy for dessert. Decided on Honey ๐Ÿฏ butter ๐Ÿงˆ caramelized apples ๐ŸŽ, air fryer toasted coconut ๐Ÿฅฅ over plain Greek yogurt with walnuts

โ€ข In a pan on hi heat, brown about a tbsp of butter with 1 tbsp honey. ๐Ÿฏ ๐Ÿงˆ
โ€ข Lower the heat to medium and add diced apples with cinnamon. ๐ŸŽ
โ€ข Let cook until tender to your liking.

Prep bowl with yogurt ๐Ÿฆ and sprinkle with toasted coconut ๐Ÿฅฅ and walnuts. Add apples ๐ŸŽ with honey ๐Ÿฏ butter ๐Ÿงˆ sauce and top with more coconut ๐Ÿฅฅ and walnuts. So yummy ๐Ÿ˜‹

Bonus to the yum;
Protein satisfies hunger and along side cinnamon and apples, they all stabilize blood sugar, walnuts are a natural source of melatonin(sleep hormone), and honey promotes melatonin production.

Thursday is glamours and core. Iโ€™ve been working hard to gain muscle through progressive loading and protein forward food choices. Upgraded our home gym and have been consistent for over a month now. Game changer for keeping body chemistry balanced with age.

My heart ๐Ÿ’œ is full after hosting the first Well-NEST community gathering! This is a completely new format for Me Time Healing, and I can honesty say, it felt like a full circle moment as well as a catalyst to the next level, as I enter year 16 in my wellness practice. This monthly event pulls together all of the philosophies and modalities that make Me Time Healing a safe space.
