I had the opportunity to speak with students at Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody today.
My intention was to be vulnerable. I shared my story to create a space where they felt comfortable opening up about the pressures, challenges, and experiences they’re navigating, many of which often go unseen or unspoken.
The world these kids are growing up in is an amplified version of the one I grew up. I learned that our emotional struggles are very similar.
When we lead with authenticity, it gives others permission to do the same. And in that space, real conversations begin, about identity, expectations, mental health, relationships, and the weight many of these students are quietly carrying.
The conversations afterward are always what matter most. Not surface-level questions, but real dialogue. A willingness to understand themselves better, to make sense of what they’re feeling, and to find a different way forward.
Grateful to be in a position where my story can be used in service of others.
