The DATC welcomes The Blood Connection to Danville. We appreciate being a part of your Ribbon Cutting on December 10th. While you will hear much more about this later, we are excited to host a blood drive at the DATC on February 10th.

Our next Recruit Academy will start in February 2026. The application time period will be December 15th to January 2nd. Keep an eye at www.DATC.training and on this page for the updated application to be released.
More info on the Recruit Academy: The Danville Area Training Center Recruit Academy is a 10-week apprenticeship program for the Danville Life Saving Crew. Classes are held Monday through Friday. Class times are 8:30am to 5:30pm. The apprenticeship is recognized by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry. Support is received by Virginia Workforce and the Institute of Advanced Learning & Research (IALR).
Students in the Recruit Academy will be paid hourly during the training. This program is designed for those that wish to go straight from the classroom to the ambulance once they finish the class.
The Academy is more than just the EMT Class. We also complete training in Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC), Vehicle Rescue Awareness, Mass Casualty I&II, Traffic Incident Management Systems (TIMS), CPR , and NIMS. During the Academy, you will complete quizzes, exams, ride time on a DLSC ambulance, and lots of hands-on training in the classroom.

The Danville Area Training Center offers CPR, first aid and EMS training in its state of the art facility.

National First Responders Day is observed on October 28 to honor police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 dispatchers. The day recognizes their courage, dedication, and the critical role they play in community safety, and it serves as a national day of gratitude for their selfless service. The observance can also be a call to action to support first responders.

Our 15th Super CE Weekend is February 13 - 15, 2026. The committee is working to bring an Education That Saves Lives!
We are excited to add Henry County Public Safety Training Center as a satellite location. They join Chatham Fire, Gretna Fire & Rescue, VIR, and Danville Fire as our other remote locations. We will have more information as we start to lock in the schedule!

This milestone isn’t just ours — it’s yours. You’ve stood with us, supported us, and made sure the Danville Life Saving Crew could keep saving lives for 80 years.
