How cool is this? You get to lasso a cow, run with the bulls, and eat vegetarian for a week. Ok, none of that is true... However you can help a cow in need when the time comes. This class will be at the Olde Dominion Ag Complex on May 7th. Sign up! They will likely let you pet a cow too.

Yesterday evening our two current EMT classes got together for the first time! The Rescue Academy (evening class) and the Recruit Academy (day class) spent three hours together. During this time they worked on multiple competitions. They sprinted the 100-meter dash carrying the EMS bag. The ambulance stretcher race was legendary. They competed in a 20 person blood pressure challenge that involved completing blood pressures on different "patients". 5 students from each class competed in stop the bleed scenarios. Three students from each group competed with an ambulance and 100 cones to drive thru in driving scenarios. They played a Jeopardy style EMS game. They finished the competition by reading the entire 1000+ page EMT Book out loud as a team.

Well, actually none of that happened.

Both classes attended the Traffic Incident Management Systems (TIMS) Class. All students learned best practices to keep themself, patients, and others safe during operations on and around scenes on the roads and highways in and around Danville.

Thanks to all that attended our 15th Super CE Weekend! It was a great weekend of training and getting an opportunity to network with fellow prehospital providers.
Huge thanks to our partners in making this a great event. Pittsylvania County Public Safety, Henry County Department of Public Safety, Danville Fire Dept., VIRginia International Raceway, Gretna Fire & Rescue, and Chatham Fire Department for supporting the DATC by providing additional sites and proctors for each location.
Thanks also to support from Sovah Health - Danville, Olive Garden Danville, the Ralph Landes Medical Education Fund Educational Grant, and AirLife Virginia! You played a big part in making our CE Weekend a success. Thanks also to the US National Weather Service Blacksburg VA that gave us a weekend with no snow or ice! And of course thanks to the vision of Tommy "TP" Pruett and a few others for starting Super CE Weekend fifteen years ago.
We will post attendance numbers and pictures over the next few days.

After an amazing weekend of classes during Super CE Weekend, our parade was rained on Monday night / Tuesday morning. We have significant water damage to the Danville Area Training Center. We anticipate two months to get everything back to 100%. During that time our classes will continue! Fortunately our two large classrooms were not affected. Three of our smaller clinical rooms were damaged. We will be able to work around the construction to make sure our customers get the best training available. Maybe we can work a couple of construction scenarios into our EMT Class and Advanced EMT Class!
The support we have already received has been unbelievable. The local agencies that showed up Tuesday to start the cleaning process was amazing. Keep an eye on our FB page and the FB page of the DLSC to see how the work is progressing.
