Katherine Marion (Hallinan) Leicht - beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend - passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 75 years old.

Born on November 6, 1950, in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, Katherine was the daughter of Frank and Joan (Green) Hallinan and grew up in a lively household with her three younger brothers, Joseph, Francis (Bud), and James. She graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School and began work with Scott Paper Company before devoting herself full-time to raising her family. While still in high school, Katherine met the love of her life, Michael Joseph Leicht, and they married soon after her graduation. They recently marked 56 years of marriage. Her greatest joy was caring for her family. She poured her energy, attention, and warmth into every detail of their lives - always the first to celebrate, to comfort, to encourage, and to quietly make sure every need was met.

A devoted volunteer, Katherine gave countless hours to schools, parent–teacher associations, sports teams, and especially to Grove Presbyterian Church, where her faithful service reflected the way she moved through the world - with generosity, humility, and deep care for others. She had a rare gift for making people feel loved. She was known for her steady stream of letters, cards, and notes, sometimes with her famous baked goods, and she never missed a birthday, holiday, or anniversary. Her messages were often tucked with a favorite Scripture verse, a clipped comic, or even a coupon she thought might brighten your day. If she knew you, you could be certain she thought of you, worried for you, and prayed for you.

As a child, Katherine developed a passion for reading with regular trips to the public library. As an adult, she delighted in reading to her children and later to her grandchildren, bringing every story to life. Katherine also loved animals, especially any dog or cat that crossed her path. She was an avid Phillies fan. She was happiest when gathered with family, particularly all together at the annual beach trip or at the cabin, regularly cooking for large crowds. Her baking was legendary.

Katherine is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, Stephen (Mandy), Christopher, Amanda, and Robert (Alanna); and her cherished grandchildren, Kaisley, Kaitlyn, Emily, Dylan, Alyssa, Lochlan, and Stella Leicht. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Joan Hallinan.

Her life was a testament to quiet devotion, constant kindness, and a love that stretched “to the moon and back, to infinity and beyond.” She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Grove Presbyterian Church at 376 Bloom St. in Danville, PA. A celebration of her life will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug Orbaker officiating. Refreshments will then be provided in Fellowship Hall. Interment in the Memorial Garden at Grove Presbyterian Church will be private, at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide flowers and in honor of Katherine’s lifelong passions, the family asks that donations be made to Grove Presbyterian Church or your local library in her memory.

🙏❤️
Grief Is not just an emotion. It is an unraveling. A place where someone lived in your heart, and now they are gone.

Anyone over fifty knows this truth too well. You have buried parents. Friends. Spouses. Siblings. Sometimes even children. Loss is not a chapter you close. It is a room you walk past every day.

At first, grief feels violent. It hits your chest when you wake up. It follows you into quiet rooms. It shows up in grocery store aisles, in old songs on the radio, in empty chairs at family gatherings.

People around you move on with their lives, and inside you want to scream because your world stopped, yet no one noticed.

Then time passes. Not because you wanted it to. Not because you were ready. Time passes anyway.

The pain does not disappear. It changes. The sharp edges dull, but the weight stays. You stop crying every day, but the ache settles deeper. You learn how to carry it to work, to birthdays, to holidays. You smile while holding something broken inside, and no one sees it.

Here is the part people rarely say out loud. You never move on. You move with it.

The love you had does not die. It shows up when you laugh and then feel sad for laughing. It shows up when you reach for the phone and remember there is no one to call. It lives in old photos, in familiar smells, in habits you still cannot break. That love stays because it was real.

And that is not weakness.

Grief is not something to hide. It is not something to be embarrassed by. It is proof that your heart was brave enough to love deeply. In a world that teaches people to stay guarded, you loved anyway.

That matters.

There is no schedule for grief. Anyone who tells you there is has never truly lost someone. Some days you feel steady. Other days one small memory brings you to your knees. Both days are normal.

If you are grieving now, do not rush yourself. Do not let anyone tell you it is time to be over it. Let yourself remember. Let yourself miss them. Let yourself feel angry, grateful, broken, and still standing.

Healing does not mean forgetting. Healing means learning how to hold love and loss in the same hands.

And if you are still here carrying both, it means your heart is stronger than you think. Jim Carrey
