We are truly blessed to have them on our team, they are incredible assets to our facility, and their passion for what they do shines through in everything they do.

This month at The Hughes Center’s South Boston Day School, we’re focusing on self-care and wellness with our November Wellness Bingo challenge!

Staff and parents are joining in by sharing the creative and meaningful ways they’re checking off their Bingo cards, from journaling and yoga to acts of kindness and cozy nights in. It’s been inspiring to see everyone make time for themselves and prioritize wellness this month!

Students and staff from The Hughes Center South Boston had an amazing time visiting We Rock The Spectrum - Cary! This incredible indoor adaptive play space is designed for children with autism, offering a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can play, explore, and meet their sensory needs.

We’re so grateful for this wonderful resource and the opportunity for our students to enjoy such a meaningful and fun experience!

The Hughes Educational Center Christiansburg Campus was excited to kick off Red Ribbon Week on Friday, Oct. 24! Staff showed their spirit by wearing red for our “Rally in Red” day to start the celebration. ❤️

From Oct. 23–31, we recognized Red Ribbon Week with a variety of fun, themed days and educational activities:
👕 Monday: Teachers had a workday to prepare for the week’s events.
☮️ Tuesday: Tie-dye day—“Peace out to drugs.”
🏈 Wednesday: Sports team day—“Team up against drugs.”
🧦 Thursday: Silly sock day—“Sock it to drugs.”
🖤 Friday: “Hit the road, Jack—wear all black.”

Students also created “Say No to Drugs” posters, showing off their creativity and ideas for making healthy choices. Through these activities and their Social and Emotional Learning classes, students learned about the history and importance of Red Ribbon Week and the value of saying no to drugs.

The South Boston Day School’s annual Trunk or Treat was a huge success! 🎃

A big thank-you to the Scottsburg and Cluster Springs Fire Departments and to our amazing parents for creating such fun and festive trunks for the celebration. We had a blast celebrating Halloween together. The day was full of treats, smiles and wonderful memories!

What a spooktacular Spirit Week at Danville Day School! 🎃

Our students and staff went all out with costumes, themed outfits and lots of Halloween fun. From silly to spooky, the creativity and school spirit were on full display! The week wrapped up with trick-or-treating across campus and plenty of sweet treats to go around.

The hallways of Danville Day School turned into a Halloween Wonderland! Students and staff showed off their creativity in our Halloween Door Decorating Contest, filling the school with boo-tiful designs. 👻

All the doors were so great that it was hard to choose a winner. Congratulations to Tamera's team on their Winning Witching Door!
