🕎✨ Our community recently gathered to celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, with a joyful and meaningful Hanukkah Party. Hanukkah affirms so many timeless values—the power of light in darkness, gratitude for miracles both large and small, staying true to oneself, and the courage to stand firm in one’s beliefs.

The word Hanukkah itself means “Dedication,” honoring the reconsecration of the Temple in Jerusalem by the Maccabees in ancient times. During this holy season, we wish for each of us an increase in inner light, a deeper appreciation for the miracles that surround us, and a renewed dedication to the values that matter most. 🕯️💙

We recently celebrated Sukkot at The Reutlinger, bringing residents, families, and friends together in our sukkah to honor tradition and community. The program blended spiritual life, music, and intergenerational connection, reminding us how person-centered experiences create belonging and joy.

✨ Yesterday, our community took a colorful cultural journey during our Discovering India event! ✨ Guest speakers joined us on Diwali, the Festival of Lights (one of India’s most celebrated holidays), to share the beauty and richness of Indian culture, traditions, cuisine, languages, and entertainment.

Residents, team members, and guests enjoyed exploring traditional garments, sampling flavorful Indian dishes, and admiring beautiful home goods that reflected India’s vibrant artistry and heritage. It was a wonderful afternoon of learning, connection, and celebration of light, joy, and togetherness! 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to our Life Enrichment Assistant Neela Arumugham for helping to coordinate this beautiful event. Your passion and generosity made this celebration truly unforgettable.

We’re delighted to welcome Hanh Ta as the new Executive Director of The Reutlinger! 🎉

Hanh brings more than 20 years of diverse experience in the healthcare sector, having served as a Nursing Home Administrator, Senior Compliance Consultant, Operations Director, Compliance Officer, and Incident Commander. Her extensive background in healthcare operations, compliance, and leadership, combined with her deep compassion for residents, makes her an exceptional addition to our community.

A proud graduate of the University of California with a B.S. in Biochemistry, and of the University of Southern California with an M.S. in Gerontology, Hanh also holds a law degree, giving her a unique perspective on the complexities of healthcare regulations and senior care.

Hanh is passionate about improving the lives of older adults and fostering a supportive, collaborative environment for both residents and staff. As she shares, “I want to make a difference in the lives of the seniors who reside here and the staff who work here. I am thrilled to be a part of this great Eskaton team!”

🎉 Celebrating 100 Years and Beyond! 🎉 In August, we were honored to celebrate two extraordinary residents who reached—and surpassed—the incredible milestone of 100 years! Their lives are a testament to resilience, wisdom, and joy.

Join us on September 19 for Eskaton’s “Age is Beautiful: Celebration of Longevity Luncheon” at Eskaton Village Carmichael, where we’ll honor centenarians and vibrant older adults across all ages. Hosted by Tony Lopez of CBS Sacramento, with a keynote by Remy Gross of the Buck Institute, this inspiring event celebrates the beauty of aging.

Still thriving 75 years later! What a joy it was to bring together our entire community- residents, staff, families, and friends- to mark this amazing milestone.

Our culinary team outdid themselves with course after course of exquisite hors d'oeuvres, in addition to some mouthwatering options from the live-action chef stations. The highlight of the event was a breathtaking duet from resident Myron Fink on piano, and Life Enrichment Director, Mirah Ray, who plays both cello and violin.

We were honored to welcome Rep. Mark DeSaulnier to our community last Thursday. During his visit, he shared his appreciation for the quality of care and services we provide to older adults here at the Reutlinger. Together, we discussed critical topics, including the potential impacts of Medicare and Medi-Cal cuts on Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care. We sincerely thank Congressman DeSaulnier for taking the time to visit and engage with our residents and staff.

✨ Stars, stripes, and smiles! 🇺🇸 We had a blast celebrating Independence Day earlier this month with a day full of joy and connection! From fun family activities and a spirited skit to singing patriotic tunes "Kate Smith style," our community came together in the most heartwarming way. Here's to freedom, friendship, and festive fun! 🎆 🎉

What an uplifting day it was at the 32nd Annual AWE (Art with Elders) Exhibition in San Francisco! On Sunday June 8th, residents, staff and families of The Reutlinger Community participated in the opening day of a 100 piece art exhibition at the Laguna Honda Hospital's historic Gerald T. Simon Auditorium.

AWE teachers, staff, board members, and volunteers welcomed over 200 people including the exhibiting artists and their families, friends, and caregivers. The room was filled with smiles and high spirits as attendees viewed the remarkable artwork.

Our residents who were honored in the show included Bea Bergerman, Vaso Paris, Roslyn Tunis, and Christine Wasserbauer. Their artwork will continue to be seen by audiences at various San Francisco venues throughout the year, educating and inspiring others about what is really possible as we age.
