Anna Wilma Brogle Arnold
March 16, 1933 - January 27, 2026
Anna Wilma Brogle Arnold of Somerset, Kentucky peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the Hospice Of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.
Anna Wilma was born on March 16, 1933 in Garrard County Kentucky to the late Isaiah Joseph Brogle and Mattie Thomas Edgington Brogle. She was the 4th of 10 children and loved her parents and siblings dearly.
Anna Wilma married Samuel Drennan Arnold on her 19th birthday, March 16, 1952 and they were married 62 years. Together they had 7 children, 26 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren (1 more expected in May), 16 great-great grandchildren (5 more expected between March-July).
Anna Wilma accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior at the age of 10 and devoted her life to Him in all she did. She was a faithful pastor’s wife, and a devoted mother, exemplifying the Proverbs 31 woman. She was a member of Langdon Street Baptist Church in Somerset, KY and loved her pastor and fellow church members.
Anna Wilma was a wonderful seamstress who made many of her children’s clothing. For the past 30+ years, she also did alterations for others until just a few weeks ago.
She loved to quilt in the winter and all her children/grandchildren have at least one of her quilts. She also loved to sing and play the piano and organ. Her children have wonderful memories of her playing and singing at home and church. She was FULL OF JOY AND LAUGHTER; a delight to all who encountered her. She loved talking about the Lord and counseled many with His wisdom. And believe me, you could not out-give her! No matter what little she had, she always had something to give! She lived by the scripture, “It is better to give than to receive.”
Even though she told her children and grandchildren she had no favorites, she somehow made each one feel like they were her favorite.
Anna Wilma was preceded in death by her loving parents, her husband, three sisters (Roberta East, Doris Ayres and Dixie Sebastian), a son-in-law (Winfred Allen Slayter), a daughter-in-law (Pamela Slayter Arnold), a grandson (Jeremiah Litton), and a great grandson (Malachi Joel Leffler).
Left behind to mourn her passing are her brothers and sisters, WC Brogle (Houstonville, KY), Barbara Montgomery, Joe (and Barbara) Brogle, Paul Brogle, Carolyn (and Don) Hawkins, Patricia (and Lester) Reeves, (all of Garrard Co, KY); her children Pamela Ann Arnold (Somerset, KY) Donna Jean Murrell (Louisiana), Timothy Drennan Arnold (Louisiana), Stephen Brogle (and Suzan) Arnold (South Carolina), Joel Samuel (and Kathryn) Arnold (Louisiana), Ramona Jill (and Nathaniel) Napier (Somerset, KY), Sarah Faye (and Garnet) Roberts (Nancy, KY), her grandchildren, Rachel Bryant, Amy Hale, Justin Litton, Nicole Owens, Micah Murrell, Jason Arnold Jonathan Murrell, Natalie Davenport, Charity Litton, Melanie Ellis, Heather Mullins, Matthew Murrell, Joshua Arnold, April Star Whittle, Nathan Arnold, Derik Richey, Zachary Arnold, Korey Napier, Bradley Roberts, Kelsey Smart, Erika Leffler, Kaitlin Welsh, Kandyce David, Maddy Mullins, Jared Arnold and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.
