My approach focuses on holistic well-being, offering products designed to harmonize with your body and the environment. I aim to bring the healing essence of nature directly to your daily routine, providing effective and gentle care you can trust.
How do you take care of your mental health while juggling so many work responsibilities?
I have to be very intentional about taking time for myself. This doesn’t mean loading up my free time with a mess of activities, either. Most times, my form of therapy is sitting outside, in the garden, with the sun on my face, just existing. At times I’ll take a sketch pad or my watercolors out with me as well, but the goal is to just slow time down a bit and relax. It’s such a simple activity, but nothing brings me back to center more than just existing peacefully, in nature.
I am an avid plant lover and a creative by heart, so gardening, crafting, and creating new things really appeals to me. I’m very lucky that my business incorporates some of the things I love most. I can wax poetic about beneficial plant properties and how to make products from them (much to the chagrin of my poor husband and friends) and I har been known to introduce new people to all of my houseplants when they come over. There is just something about harvesting herbs and flowers you grew yourself, and then drying them to use in products later that is just so rewarding to me. It's this passion that keeps me balanced….Plus who doesn’t love buying more plants?!
What is one piece of advice or encouragement you would give someone who is struggling with their mental health?
I actually have two pieces of advice, but they go hand in hand. There was a time in my life where I really struggled with my mental health and felt like I was absolutely drowning. I used to be a serial people pleaser and I was very bad about sacrificing myself for the sake of others. I became burnt out very quickly and, at the time, I felt so alone in my struggle.
To combat that, I learned these two pieces of advice that were instrumental in gaining back my peace. First, “no is a complete sentence.” It doesn’t require a justification and it doesn’t make you a mean person to say it. It simply means that whatever is being asked of you, is not a yes. You don’t need to explain yourself or justify it so someone else will be okay with it. If it’s not a yes, it’s a no, and that’s all you have to say.
Second, everyone else gets the overflow. You show up for yourself first, (in whatever capacity you are able) and whatever is left over, that is what others get of you. Don’t sacrifice all of the best of you to other people and leave nothing left for yourself. It’s not selfish, it’s self-preservation. The difference you will make when you start showing up for yourself first, instead of working yourself beyond the point of exhaustion, is so impactful.
