"I'm too tired or stressed to exercise, cook my own meals, or rest."

Sound familiar? They're legitimate excuses -- you ARE exhausted, you ARE stressed to the max, you ARE so busy with the details of life that it's hard to find the time to take care of yourself.

But these are the exact things that will give you energy and lower your stress. The people who are living the life you want are also tired, stressed, and busy...but they make the effort anyway.

Our bodies don't understand excuses, they understand the information we give them through our habits and mindset. You can't put in negative inputs and expect positive outputs. The little habits are not so little.

What if there was another way to deal with burnout? One that got you out of constant survival mode and helped you prevent getting back to that point over and over again?

You don't have to burn it all down, push past your limits, or play the blame game to get to a better place. You just need to take a break.

Take a breath. Assess where you're at and what got you there. Go for a walk (you'd be surprised how good it is for clearing your head).

Don't try to solve every problem at once -- look at what's in your control and out of your control, and put 1% more effort every day into controlling the controllables. Drink water, move, get some sun, and don't get trapped in scroll holes or doom spirals.

Give yourself some grace instead of giving up. Burnout is just your mind + body trying to tell you they need some attention.

I wouldn’t tell them they can improve their life with small tweaks to their every day choices.

I wouldn’t tell them that there are simple things they can do to recognize what’s in their control and take advantage of it.

I wouldn't tell them that the best time to start was yesterday, but the second best time to start is right now.

I wouldn't tell them they're one good decision away from changing their life.

Will you answer?

When your mind or body gets tired, do you rest? Or, do you push through until you're so exhausted you can't get enough sleep no matter how much you try?

Sleep is the lead domino. Without adequate rest, we can't function as humans. There's no replacement for sleep.

Your mindset is the lens you experience the world through, and we each get to pick our lens every day. A lens of gratitude shows you everything you have to be thankful for and creates a life of peace and positivity. 🌱

You don't need a perfect hour long morning routine or to exercise to exhaustion. You just need to replace habits that make you feel bad with ones that are slightly better. Try these:

✍🏻 Instead of grabbing your phone right when you wake up, take 5-10 minutes to stretch and write what you are grateful for. Same amount of time but a totally different start to your day.

🚶Instead of rushing out the door 15 minutes after your alarm goes off, set it 15 minutes earlier and take a short walk around the block.

😮‍💨 Instead of checking your socials every time you feel stressed throughout the day, take short breaks to breathe slowly and remind yourself of the gratitude list you made in the morning.

These small shifts might seem insignificant in the moment but they can totally change the way you think and feel. You are the habits you repeat.

Focus on the negative and life will feel hard.
Notice the good and life will feel lighter.
Put effort into the things you can control and life will feel more stable.
Accept what is out of your control and life will be more at ease.

It's all about where your focus is 🔍

With Spring Break and traveling season just around the corner, I’d like you to think about vacations vs. holidays.

One thing I’ve noticed when traveling abroad is it’s much more common to see people caring for themselves on their break. They take classes, go the gym, have a spa day, eat healthy food, read a book instead of scrolling on their phones, get massages — the list goes on. It’s a time to restore themselves and care for their body and mind.

If you get home from a vacation and feel more stressed and tired than when you left, it may be time to look at the choices we make and if they are giving us the results we are looking for. I’ve spent trips in bars & fast food shops and I’ve spent them in gyms & smoothie shops and I always come back more restored from the latter.

You can't hustle yourself into feeling calm, focused, and grounded. You can only achieve these through choosing to do the things that support your well-being as often as possible.

In our fast-paced lives, we often think we don't have time to not feel good.

We distract ourself from our emotions with screen time.
Headache? Take an aspirin.
Stomach always upset? There's a quick cure for that.

These are all warning signs that something we are doing is causing issues in our body. It's our body notifying us that there is a problem. Ignoring them doesn't make them go away, it makes them get louder. Is your body a friend to support, or an enemy to control?

Take a deep breath, relax your shoulders, and unclench your jaw. You may not even have noticed that you were tense until you intentionally relaxed yourself, but your body was very aware.

Stress shows up in our bodies as tension. One of the best ways to signal to your body that you are safe and ready to return to a state of regulation is to slow down and let your tension go.

Notice how intensely you are brushing your teeth, vacuuming, and driving your car. If we constantly send signals of stress to our body, it will stay in a stressed state.
