7 years ago a new path was beginning to unfold for me and my family. I knew I wanted to help people. I always have. Each career I've ever considered centered around helping. This new path was formed from that old desire to help, but had morphed into a new way to help. I gave myself 5 years to work in group practice and learn the ropes. People continued to do what some people do in the different forms of brokenness that we all experience, and that caused some incredibly dramatic twists and turns during those 5 years.
Then came the time to launch into a new chapter on this new path, which meant going from the security of group practices to the boldness of solo practice. This chapter is fun, and exciting, and challenging, and rewarding in all kinds of different ways.

So that leads me to a question. How about your growth? Where would you like to be? Where have you come from? Quick: Do yourself a favor and look up "Mirror Neurons". We were created with coregulating neurons in our brains. We were made to coregulate with one another. It's amazing.
All of us needed that from our parents.
A large percentage of the parts work and story work that I do with clients struggling with emotional regulation has to do with parents that shut down, ignored, or punished emotional dysregulation.
If you are a parent, it is NEVER too late to repair that rupture. If you are a child of a parent (all of us), it is never too late to discuss that rupture.

You are made up of a system of parts that developed at certain pivotal moments in your life.

A parent that seeks to know our desires and understand those desires is a key to us growing up in a secure environment. If we didn't receive this as a child, we are not without hope. We can heal, even as adults, years after those needs were at their strongest.
