The smaller the numbers that Dr. Madwar calls out while examining your teeth's pocket depth the better! The gaps between your teeth and gum should be as small as possible.
If you hear alot of zeros and ones, that's excellent! If you hear mostly twos and threes, that means you have some inflammation that may be fixed by, perhaps, stepping up your flossing. If you hear fours or higher, you'll need deeper cleanings and may be on the cusp of gum disease.

The bacteria that grow into acid in our mouths feed on sugar and starch. That acid removes minerals from your tooth enamel. The more sugar you eat, the more acid is formed. When the acid isn’t brushed away, your tooth enamel decays and causes cavities.
