Since 1970, Darien EMS-Post 53 has provided the town of Darien, Connecticut with high-quality emerge

Darien EMS - Post 53, founded by Bud Doble to provide his son and his friends with first-hand experience regarding the dangers of drugs and alcohol, now provides 24/7 intermediate life support coverage to the town of Darien, responding to over 1,500 emergencies each year. Beginning with a first-aid tent and a converted telephone van as an ambulance, Post 53 currently operates with three ambulances and two flycars. The membership consists of more than 80 young adults and 30 Adult Advisors who volunteer innumerable hours providing high quality, professional EMS care to the community.

Every day our crews show up for Darien with skill, compassion and commitment. In this video, our 2025–26 senior Elected Officers share four ways Post 53 helps our town:

• We provide free, life-saving basic emergency medical care and transport when every second counts.

• We train the community in lifesaving skills and give residents the confidence to step in during an emergency.

• We deliver EMS standby support at Darien town events to ensure help is close when it’s needed.

• We keep our ambulances staffed and prepared around the clock so we can respond the moment you call.

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🍭
Last Sunday, we hosted our annual Haunted House at Post 53 headquarters — and it was a blast! From three levels of fright in the haunted house to kids’ games, face painting, ambulance tours, and more!
We’re so glad so many families could join in on the fun! If we didn’t see you there, we hope to see you at our annual Nielsen’s Holiday Shopping Event on 11/13.
