The Hindu community—joined by student volunteers and corporate sponsors—came together again this year to spread light through Sewa (selfless service).

📦 83,000 pounds of food donated
🏛️ Distributed across 20+ pantries statewide
🪔 First Diwali recognized as a state holiday in Connecticut
🤝 Supported by mayors, state reps, and community leaders

Top beneficiary organizations include:

South: The Food Bank (Stamford), Person-to-Person (Norwalk), Malta House (Norwalk)
North: MD FOX Pantry (Hartford), Glastonbury Food Pantry, Simsbury Food Pantry

This movement continues to grow nationwide—uniting families, dharmic communities, schools, and service organizations in giving back.

The drive is organized in celebration of the holiday Diwali, which is known as the festival of lights. The goal of Sewa Diwali is to bring schools, cities and community organizations together to ensure no one goes hungry during the festive season.
