Lafayette County Emergency Medical Services

Lafayette County Emergency Medical Services LCEMS is a local, county owned, community oriented ambulance service providing prehospital care. And thus we enter into the field of EMS.

Every day, thousands of individuals experience what constitutes a medical emergency: an incident that will, if the individual does not seek immediate treatment, result in serious injury and/or death. Heart attacks, drownings, car accidents, falls, allergic reactions, shootings, and diabetic crises are among the various situations that fall into the emergent category. In such cases, it's pivotal that the patient receive medical care as soon as possible. Emergency Medical Services, more commonly known as EMS, involves all personnel directly involved with public emergencies. Fire personnel, police officers, EMTs, ER nurses/doctors, and even trained bystanders are part of this broad service. Each sector plays a large role in responding to emergencies, activating the appropriate resources, and resolving whatever the issue may be. As a whole, EMS is an action-packed field, full of uncertainties and constantly changing scenarios. Law officers gets to see the best and worst of people as they attempt to enforce policies. Fire personnel feel the heat as they rush into burning buildings to extinguish engulfing flames. EMTs treat the ill and injured, always ready to assess, treat, and heal those most in need. Together, these public safety workers help to save the lives of people throughout the world. Would you like the opportunity to become part of this elite team and make a big difference, perhaps even saving someone's life? Lafayette County EMS is always accepting applications for highly motivated individuals that would like to explore the medical field. If interested in joining, please visit our website for application materials - https://www.lafayettecountywi.org/emslc
For those not necessarily having the means to become a member of Lafayette County EMS, you can still play a big role in the EMS system. Visit our page frequently for quick tips on how to save a life - your initial response to a medical emergency is, in many cases, just as critical as the definitive treatment provided by healthcare professionals.

September 11, 2001, marked one of our nation’s darkest days. Few responded as bravely as New York City’s first responders. That day, FDNY lost 343, The Port Authority of NY & NJ lost 37, and NYPD lost 23, and many others lost and continue to suffer from illnesses related to 9/11. ❤️‍🩹❤️🤍💙💛💚🧡🐾🐾🇺🇸🙏

🇺🇸Kicking off the start of America’s 250th year!🇺🇸

We at Lafayette Country EMS would like to wish you all a Safe and Happy Independence Day!

Here are a few safety tips:

1. CHEW YOUR FOOD WELL: Be familiar with how to perform abdominal thrusts, in the event someone is choking.

2. NOT TOO MUCH ACCELERANT: Be mindful of which way the wind is blowing, when spraying some go-go juice on the charcoal. You can quickly catch on fire, if lighter fluid was to get on your clothing. And NEVER use gasoline to start a fire. Remember to if you find yourself on fire.

3. FINISH WITH THE SAME NUMBER OF DIGITS: No we’re not talking about phone numbers.. We’re talking about fingers and toes. Use fireworks only as instructed and never shoot them off inside of an enclosed space (i.e. from inside a car). Don’t kick over any bricks, mortar tubes, or step on any fireworks.

4: KNOW HOW TO SWIM: Be sure anyone that is playing around water (i.e. lake, river, or pool) either knows how to swim or has an appropriate flotation device on. Keep an extra eye on the little ones.

5. NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE: Hand over your keys, pitch a tent, call a cab, do whatever you have to do so that you don’t end up behind the wheel, if you’ve had a few too many adult beverages.

Have fun and stay safe today and throughout the weekend! Celebrate America’s 249th Birthday responsibly.
