William Alva Robertson, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 75. A Memorial Service will be held for him on Monday, February 2nd, 2026 at St. Matthews Anglican Church of Darlington at 2pm, with visitation following service.

Born in Plymouth, NC, on January 20, 1951 to Benjamin Robertson and Mary Davenport Robertson. Bill dedicated his life to creating lasting memories with his loved ones in Darlington, SC, where he made his home. He enjoyed making sure his yard was always kept up and in pristine condition. He was a frequent flyer at Purple Fish Coffee Company in Darlington where he enjoyed his coffee and an occasional scone, also volunteering his time there as a Barista. Bill was a real go-getter, had endless energy and enjoyed helping others immensely.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Joanne Robertson of 35 years. Their children: Kristen Robertson of Darlington and Christy (Billy) Lassen of Myrtle Beach. Grandson Timmy Lassen and his sister Jean (Robert) Davenport of North Carolina. His K-9 campion Blaze and feline friend Tux. Preceding him in death are his parents Mary and Benjamin Robertson.

Donations may be made in his honor to: Purple Fish c/o of St. Matthew Anglican Church 210 S. Main Street, Darlington, SC 29532.

Troy Steve Brogden

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Troy Steve Brogden, who passed away Saturday, January 24th, 2026 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. A visitation will be held for him at his home church of Peace Free Will Baptist Church in Florence on Wednesday, January 28th from 1:00 to 2:00pm. With Funeral Service following immediately afterward at 2:00pm in the church. He will then be laid to rest at Florence Memorial Gardens.

Born on March 2, 1954, in Goldsboro, NC, to Troy Brogden and Lucille Walston Brogden. Steve lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering spirit. He was a beloved husband to his wife, Debbie Brogden, and their bond was a testament to true love and partnership. Steve’s career in sales with Blanchard Caterpillar Heavy Equipment showcased his remarkable work ethic and passion for helping others, where he worked for 32 years and then retired from in 2019. That same year he began helping Belk Funeral Home as a funeral director assistant. He worked every service with compassion and kindness. Steve also retired from being a South Carolina State Constable. He wore many hats as a Sunday School teacher, a chairman and trustee at church. Also, was a trustee and board member for the SCFWB Disaster Relief Team. He was known for his warmth, humor, and willingness to lend a hand to those in need. Steve's presence touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of compassion and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Steve leaves behind his loving wife Debbie Floyd Brogden, children: Jennifer Smith of Columbia, Ashley Nicole (Adrian) Felice, and Allyssa Marie (Corbin) Saunders. Grandchildren: Kayla Lewis, Trent Lewis, Chayce Luna, Caylie Turpin, Braylon Felice, and C**t Saunders. Also his sister Barbara (Sammie) Stone, and nephew Kip Stone. The family extends their appreciation to Dr. Mark Steadman for his care. Members of the SCFWB Disaster Relief Board and Sunday School Class of Peace FWBC are asked to sit together as honorary pallbearers. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Troy Brogden and Lucille Brogden. May we remember Steve for his love, laughter, and the joy he brought to our lives. He was a true gentleman and passionate about his faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Donations may be made in his honor to: Peace FWB/CTS Program at 897 Third Loop Rd. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Max John Parker, who left this world on January 21, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on April 23, 1954, in Okinawa, Japan, Max was a cherished son, brother, father, and grandfather, whose intelligence touched the lives of many. Max spent his early years in Okinawa before eventually calling Florence, South Carolina, his home. He proudly served his country in the Navy, embodying the dedication and bravery that defined his character. After his military service, he transitioned into a fulfilling career as an IT Specialist at Blue Cross/Blue Shield, where he made significant contributions until his retirement. He leaves behind his beloved son, Anthony (Stephanie) Parker, and his daughter, Celeste Parker. Max was also a treasured grandfather to his granddaughter, Marlee Parker, who brought him immense joy. He is survived by his brothers, Troy and Glen Parker. Belk Funeral Home will be serving this family during this difficult time. Max’s ashes will be interred at Florence National Cemetery along with his late wife Laura. Max Parker will be missed dearly but remembered fondly. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Max was preceded in death by his lovely wife Laura Carey-Parker, and his parents Mitsuko Parker and Cecil Parker, and sister Victoria Tardo.

Hilda Norris Sapp

CLAXTON: Hilda Norris Sapp, 72, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on January 21, 2026. Born on August 23, 1953, raised in Lamar, South Carolina, Hilda was known for her vivacious spirit and dedicated work ethic throughout her life.

Hilda had a rewarding career as a Property Manager at Weaver Management, but she also held cherished memories of her time with GE Appliances, from which she retired after many years of service. Beyond her professional endeavors, she enjoyed the adventure of riding alongside her husband, Gary Sapp, as they transported auction cars, a shared passion that brought them closer together.

In her leisure time, Hilda found joy in fishing, often spending tranquil hours by the water, enjoying the beauty of nature. Her love for the outdoors reflected her appreciation for life's simple pleasures and provided her with happiness that she generously shared with others.

Hilda is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Gary Sapp, and their loving family. She is the proud mother of William Craig Griggs and stepmother to Chris (Carrol) Sapp, Brent Sapp, Matthew (Michelle) Sapp, and Reid Sapp. Her heart swelled with love for her daughter, Crystal (Billy) Lukowski Floyd. Hilda's nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, including Sydney Lukowski, Taylor Griggs, Wyatt, English, Eli Sapp, Joshua, Jeremy, Jarret, and Jesse Floyd, as well as her great-grandson, Ryder Sapp.

Hilda will be deeply missed by her siblings: brothers Harold (Pearl) Norris, Ronnie (Judy) Norris, and Bobby Norris; half-brothers Charlie Norris Jr. and Robbie (Kristen) Norris; sister Patsy (Eric) Rolfe and Diane (Sam) Altman; and half-sister Debbie Atkinson. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and many cousins who will remember her warmth and kindness.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Norris and Frances Nichols Parnell, and her granddaughter, Catherine Gail Lukowski.

As her family and friends come together to celebrate her life, they remember a woman who brought joy and love to all who knew her. Hilda's legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

Robert Mark Wall

Robert Mark Wall, age 70, passed away at his home on Friday, January 16, 2026. A graveside funeral service will be held at Indian Branch Cemetery on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 2:00. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday evening at Belk Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Mark was born in Florence, son of the late Robert and Shirley Britt Wall. Mark worked for Carolina Supply House in Florence for over 28 years. He enjoyed seeing all of his customers and cherished the relationships that he built while working. Mark will be remembered as an outdoorsman, he loved boating, camping and going fishing. Some of his fondest memories were those of he and his dad in Georgetown. Mark found solace in his back yard time, where he and his wife Susie would sit and enjoy the pond. Mark was also a talented singer with a beautiful voice.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Flowers Wall, his children: Bridgette W. Matherly, Joshua “Josh” (Amber) Wall, a grandson, Carter Wall, brother-in-law Jerry Stutts, sisters-in-law, Betty Kleespie, Jeanie (Craig) Young, brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Dolly) Flowers, Jesse (Jessica) Flowers and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pam Stutts and brother-in-law, John Flowers.

Memorials may be made to the Darlington Humane Society, 580 Washington Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550.
