More than anything, Laverne will be remembered for his selfless heart. He gave freely to others, never expecting anything in return, and would truly give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His life was a reflection of unconditional love—something he passed on to his children and grandchildren, who carry forward his legacy of kindness, compassion, and generosity.

Laverne’s memory will live on in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.

John B. Jones

John B. Jones, born February 9, 1946, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, unwavering love, and proud service to his country.

A Vietnam-era veteran of the United States Air Force, John honorably served from June 1965 to February 1969, carrying that same sense of discipline and quiet strength throughout his life. He was deeply proud of his service and the country he stood for.

In 1988, J.B. married the love of his life, Crystal Parker. Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, loyalty, and years of shared memories that will be cherished by all who knew them.

John was a devoted father to Sherry Spraggins, Chad James (Abbey), and Christy Fish (David). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Britney Holder, Calli Bright (Alec), Sage Spraggins, Jonathan Spraggins (Carrie), Gavin Weatherford, Connor Spraggins, and Xander Spraggins, and a cherished great-grandfather to Dandelion Spraggins. His family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in each of them.

For many years, J.B. worked as a diesel mechanic, becoming a true master of his craft. Known for his skill, precision, and strong work ethic, there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. He earned the respect of everyone who worked alongside him and those who relied on his expertise.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Mary Ann Winburn Jones; and his siblings, Margaret (Leon) Hood, Jessie (Janie Bea) Jones, Coker (Myrtle) Jones, Beatrice (Claude) Siner, and Troy (Joyce) Jones.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Crystal Parker Jones; his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter; and his sisters, Geneva (Gary) Barber and Helen Smith.

J.B. will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was—a man of integrity, strength, and simple wisdom. He often reminded those around him, “if you don’t start nothing, there won’t be nothing,” a phrase that perfectly captured his straightforward outlook on life.

Above all, J.B. was a proud veteran, a dedicated craftsman, and a family man through and through. His presence will be deeply missed, but his lessons, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family for generations to come.

He was dearly loved and will never be forgotten.
