This is a complicated day for many. We celebrate a male saint that reputedly banished the snakes from Ireland. This was a euphemism for the 'pagans'. Those who practiced an older earth nature based spirituality. Was Patrick, originally brought to Ireland as a slave from Wales, spreading the pure message of Christianity, which expoused loving your neighbour? Perhaps he was caught up in the throes of religious rivalry. Now here we are walking the path of Irish Celtic Shamanism - so called 'nathair' snakes.

When much of the world today celebrates being Irish, our culture & tradition, we say let's honour all our multi-facets & enjoy the opportunity to show who we are & embrace all those who travel to these shores from afar...

For me, St. Patrick’s day is spent connecting with the old ways of Ireland. 🐍🌞

Shortly after a prayer to St. Brigid this Imbolg, I finally found a Celtic Shamanism program that feels most aligned with my values and previous training.

I’m just scratching the surface of all there is to learn, but it’s bringing me much comfort as the US continues to support devastating chaos. Amanda gave me this journal with Celtic art after my dad passed and it’s being put to good use.

As an Army brat born in the wake of the Gulf War to two military parents, my life and DNA have been shaped by war. I’m proud of military roots—that’s where I developed an unwavering sense of service, discipline, and desire to be part of something bigger than myself.

But the consequences of war, and my anger towards larger power dynamics that continue to exploit all people and destroy our planet…is all consuming at times.

Returning to spiritual practices is the only way I’ve been able to cope constructively.

I know this is a bit deeper than I usually go on my business account, but this is the motivation behind the healing work that I do. And why I went to school for anthropology.

If you study history & current events with a truly unbiased view you’ll find that no group of people is immune to violence, revenge, and the corruption that comes with power.

It’s up to us as individuals and within our communities to break the cycle of fear and violence before it’s too late for our species.

Spiritual healing isn’t a trend or escape. It’s a necessary part of our evolution. We’ve got to find balance between finding joy in challenging times without being numb and desensitized to the harsh reality of the world.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading my break from usual content. I don’t post as much as I used to because I can’t bring myself to fake how I’m feeling for the sake of social media. Especially this past year…

So I’m not going to anymore. May this choice call in the people who are serious about change in their life & in the world. 💚
