🧠 Lumbar Flexion-Distraction: A Gentle, Targeted Approach for Low Back Pain

Low back pain is one of the most common conditions we see — and not every spine responds well to the same type of adjustment.

At Active Health Chiropractic, we use lumbar flexion-distraction as a gentle, evidence-informed technique designed to reduce pressure on the lower back while improving motion and comfort.

Potential benefits of flexion-distraction include:
• Reduced pressure on spinal joints and discs
• Improved lumbar mobility
• Decreased muscle tension and guarding
• Relief for certain types of low back pain, disc-related symptoms, and stiffness

This technique is especially helpful for patients who may not tolerate traditional high-velocity adjustments or who need a more controlled approach.

When we utilize flexion-distraction:
✔ Acute or chronic low back pain
✔ Disc-related irritation or nerve symptoms
✔ Stiffness with bending or prolonged sitting
✔ Patients who prefer a gentler treatment style

Flexion-distraction is never used alone. We combine it with:
• Chiropractic adjustments when appropriate
• Stretching to restore motion
• Strength and stability exercises for long-term support

Our goal isn’t just pain relief — it’s helping your spine move better and stay resilient.

If low back pain has been limiting your life, we’d love to help.

🧠 Neck Adjustments: Why Personalization Matters

Neck pain, stiffness, and headaches are some of the most common reasons people come into our office — but no two necks are the same.

At Active Health Chiropractic, we use chiropractic neck adjustments to help improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, and support healthier movement patterns. Research shows that when appropriately applied, cervical adjustments and mobilizations can help reduce pain and improve function — especially when combined with movement-based care.

Why we adjust in different ways:
Not every patient feels comfortable with the same technique, and not every neck should be treated the same way. That’s why we use a variety of approaches, including:
✔ Manual adjustments
✔ Gentle mobilization techniques
✔ Instrument-assisted adjusting
✔ Drop-table or low-force methods

The technique we choose depends on your exam findings, comfort level, medical history, and goals.

Neck adjustments work best when combined with:
• Stretching to reduce tight muscles
• Exercises to improve strength and stability
• Posture and ergonomic guidance

Our goal isn’t just short-term relief — it’s helping you move better, feel better, and stay active.

If neck pain or stiffness has been slowing you down, we’d love to help. 💙

🌟 What Is Cupping & Why We Use It at Active Health Chiropractic 🌟

Cupping is a therapeutic technique that uses gentle suction to help support soft-tissue health. It’s not a stand-alone “fix,” but when combined with adjustments, stretching, and exercise therapy, it can be a powerful part of your care plan.

🔹 Potential Benefits of Cupping

✔ Reduces muscle tension and focal tight spots
✔ Enhances local blood flow to promote recovery
✔ Can ease soreness after movement or workouts
✔ Supports improved range of motion when tissue is free

Although research varies depending on the condition, many patients experience measurable relief and better movement when cupping is integrated into a broader treatment strategy.

🔹 When We Use Cupping

We consider cupping when there’s:
• Significant muscle tightness or trigger points
• Limited mobility linked to soft-tissue restrictions
• Post-workout soreness or delayed recovery
• A need to support the effects of adjustments + stretching

🔹 Our Approach

At Active Health Chiropractic, cupping is one part of a complete care plan—including:
✔ Chiropractic adjustments to improve joint motion
✔ Targeted stretching to lengthen tight muscles
✔ Corrective exercises to build stability and strength

The goal isn’t just temporary relief — it’s lasting improvement in how you move, feel, and perform.

If cupping might help you recover or move better, we’d love to talk through it with you!

👐 Let’s Talk Shoulder Adjustments — What They Are & When They Help

Shoulder issues are extremely common, whether from lifting, sports, posture, or just day-to-day wear and tear. At Active Health Chiropractic, we use evidence-informed shoulder adjustments to help restore motion and reduce discomfort when the joint isn’t moving the way it should.

⭐ Potential Benefits:
• Improved joint mobility and alignment
• Reduced stiffness or irritation
• Better shoulder mechanics for lifting, reaching, and daily activities
• Support for rotator-cuff and scapular function when combined with rehab

⭐ When We Use Shoulder Adjustments:
Shoulder manipulation/mobilization can be helpful when patients present with:
• Limited range of motion
• Pinching, catching, or movement-related pain
• Postural or overuse-related tightness
• Shoulder dysfunction that isn’t improving with rest alone

We always pair adjustments with soft-tissue work, stability exercises, and movement-based rehab — because research shows the best outcomes come from a multimodal approach, not a single technique.

If your shoulder is stopping you from lifting, sleeping, or training the way you want… we’d love to help. 💪

🗣️ Jaw pain? TMJ tension? Head feels “stuck”?
Let’s talk about TMJ & gentle cranial adjusting 👇

At Active Health Chiropractic, we occasionally use jaw (TMJ) and cranial adjustments as part of a full treatment plan for patients dealing with things like:

Clicking, tightness, or pain in the jaw

Jaw fatigue with chewing or talking

Headaches or facial tension

Neck and upper back stiffness that seems connected to the jaw

💡 What we actually do (based on current evidence):
Rather than “cracking the skull,” we focus on very gentle, specific joint and soft-tissue work around the TMJ, neck, and upper back. Research on TMJ pain supports a combination of:

Manual therapy to the jaw, neck, and surrounding muscles

Exercise/rehab to improve control and posture

Education on habits (clenching, grinding, posture, mouth breathing, etc.)

We may use TMJ and cranial adjustments when:
✅ Your exam shows joint restriction or imbalance around the jaw or skull
✅ Muscle tension and posture are contributing to your jaw discomfort
✅ You’re already working with your dentist/MD and need a conservative, hands-on approach to support healing

🔥 Our goal:
Not to “fix everything with one pop,” but to reduce pain, improve motion, calm overactive muscles, and support better function as part of a coordinated, evidence-informed care plan.

If your jaw has been sore, tight, or noisy for a while, it’s worth getting it checked.

🖐️ Wrist Adjustments at Active Health Chiropractic!

If you’ve ever dealt with wrist pain from work, sports, or daily activities, you know how much it can slow you down. At Active Health Chiropractic, we use safe, gentle wrist adjustments to help restore motion and reduce discomfort — backed by current clinical evidence.

💡 When We Utilize Wrist Adjustments

We commonly incorporate wrist adjustments when patients present with:
✔️ Carpal tunnel–type symptoms (mild to moderate, movement-based cases)
✔️ Overuse strains from typing, lifting, or repetitive work
✔️ Post-injury stiffness after sprains or immobilization
✔️ Painful or restricted wrist motion affecting daily tasks
✔️ Athletic or gym-related wrist dysfunction

🔍 What the Evidence Supports

Research shows that wrist joint mobilization and manipulation can help:
✨ Improve joint mobility & function
✨ Reduce pain and stiffness in the wrist & forearm
✨ Support normal mechanics of the wrist and hand
✨ Compliment rehab exercises for better outcomes

🙌 Why It Works

Wrist adjustments help normalize motion in the small carpal joints, decrease mechanical stress, and support better movement patterns—especially when paired with soft-tissue work, stretching, and rehab (which we also provide!).

📍 Struggling with wrist pain?

Whether it’s from typing, lifting, or an old injury, we can help. Book an appointment with us today and let’s get those wrists moving the way they should.

🦶✨ Ankle Adjustments? Yep — We Do Those Too! ✨🦶

Stiff ankles… old sprains… rolling your ankle every time you step off a curb? 👀
Sometimes the issue isn’t just muscles — it’s joint restriction.

At Active Health Chiropractic, ankle adjustments are used when:
• There’s limited ankle mobility
• Old sprains never healed “quite right”
• The ankle is throwing off your gait, balance, or even your knee/low-back
• You need better movement to perform at work, in sports, or just daily life

Why adjust the ankle?
Current evidence shows that joint manipulation can help restore motion, reduce pain, and support better balance and stability — especially after chronic or recurrent ankle sprains.

A quick, gentle adjustment + rehab work = a powerful combo 💥

If your ankles feel stiff, unstable, or “off,” we’ve got you.
