None of us are fond of pain! There are a number of causes such as injuries, infections, digestive problems, autoimmune issues, nerve pressure and complex inflammatory issues. We get good results in the office most of the time as we clear the causes of the pain. While most patients get good results fairly quickly, some patients are more complex and take longer to clear the underlying causes of pain. As you may know, I don't like to give up on difficult cases and will continue working with patients as long as they want me to. Many times I've found that problems we thought were never going to be completely cleared, actually were resolved with longer work and sometimes new techniques. Of course this sometimes takes several years to reach the best resolution!
When it takes time to clear pain, it's often useful to take pain killers like aspirin and Tylenol. These don't correct the causes of pain but they help to clear it temporarily. Of course they have side-effects. Taking them now and then is usually no problem but taking them every day over months can increase the underlying causes of pain. One of the common side effects of long-term pain killer use is increased arthritis and joint degeneration.
Fortunately, there are natural foods and herbs that can decrease pain on several levels *without* negative side effects! I recently read a nice article that talks about a number of foods/herbs that I known about for pain release. It's a nice article and in addition to listing the foods and herps it talks about the type of pain each is useful for. It also gives recipes and other ways to use the herps and prepare them.
I hope you find this article helpful!
