It’s takes a lifetime for a man to become great and the road is far from smooth. He must first taste defeat and yet continue to climb the ladder 🪜

He must come stark up against the bitter reality of falseness and pretense in life and yet cling, all the more tightly, to the TRUTH he must be able to be hated and return to love ❤️

He must be able to stand under the stinging blows of criticism, misunderstanding, jealously, and intolerance and not relinquish the fight for his convictions.

And he must allow NOTHING to sway him from the course of his ultimate goal in life.

Which is better, to be a highly educated incompetent, or a so-called "ignorant" competent? To be simple-minded, do one essential thing and stop, or to perform many complicated and baffling feats of magic that confuse your observations to be highly educated and fail, or to be considered back-bone puncher“ and get the sick well ? "Some years ago, during one of his periodical visits to us here
at our home, over the dinner table, the late Elbert Hubbard asked
me:
“WHAT ARE THE TWO MOST VALUABLE WORDS IN
THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ?”
I told him I had never given it a thot, and asked, “What are
yours?”
“SURVIVAL VALUE!”
I told him quite frankly I didn’t see much in them, to which he
replied:
“GIVE THEM TIME. THEY WILL GROW ON YOU.”
They have become a landmark in our thinking, ever since.
Later, we enlarged HIS thot. We added four more words:
ACCUMULATIVE CONSTRUCTIVE
SURVIVAL VALUE and ACCUMULATIVE DESTRUCTIVE SURVIVAL VALUE
meaning that what uses a person makes of his time-thinking,
saying, and doing—are ACCUMULATIVE, day after day, year
after year; and as they accumulate they are either CONSTRUCTIVE for welfare of man, or DESTRUCTIVE, injuring people with whom he commingled." -BJ Palmer Volume 34, Evolution or Revolution page 9

NON-INTERFERENCE:

A consideration for the philosophy curriculum would be the principle of non interference in opposition to intervention. One relies on the inherent perfection of the human body and the other on its fragility. Foundational to chiropractic is the principle of Interference, without this principle we would be easily swallowed up by the medical / health care professions. It is the foundation of us being "alternative" not even complimentary. This also applies to the above down inside out versus outside in below up concept and the accumulative constructive survival value versus accumulative destructive survival value. I find this the foundation of all of the other principles. The body heals what it can and adapts to anything it cannot. Rather than look for "what's wrong" and try to fix it, we ask "what's causing this or where is this coming from." - R.W. Stephenson

Most NOW are far-flung from ANY relation TO the Chiropractic subluxation or its adjustment which got sick well THEN OR NOW. Two years of pre-college training, conducted by men trained in medicine, weans prospects FROM us, NOT towards us. "ChiropracTIC would be the most wonderful boon to sick people everywhere IF every chiropractor were such in fact, adhered to honestly, and practiced within the confines of its principles and practices. We DO “desire” CHIROPRACTIC “unity,” but it cannot be attained with a CHIROPRACTIC principle and a MEDICAL practice in a CHIROPRACTOR’S office. All OUR life has been spent educating chiropractic students TO BE chiropractors, not bastard physicians or surgeons. The “present situation of disunity” is injurious, but so long as some “chiropractors” want to be everything they are not, and don’t want to be what they should be, there will be “disunity” in spite of those honest men in our profession who are what they claim to be."

"During these years, mixing gradually percolated into our people. They took the path of LEAST resistance, gave the sick what they cried for, gave them less of TIC. Money became a dominant issue—NOT service to the sick. During this period, legislation became involved. Straight TIC legislation began to be amended, taking in what they shouldn’t, and avoiding what they should retain. During these years, State Boards became infiltrated with mixing rules and regulations, subjects for examinations, accreditations, etc. A spirit of lethargy crept into the heads and hands of our members. The old spirit of do or die, fight for a principle, began to lose face, weakened under pressure from many on one side and fewer on the other. Older disciples who were sick got adjustments and got well; went forth to serve what THEY had received. Today, we have a younger generation, “educated” people, 4-years-of-nine, 2 years pre-college, basic science subjects, etc. The TIC kept GETTING BETTER. TORS GOT LESS AND LESS OF TIC and MORE of anything and everything else."
