💔Child sexual abuse is a heartbreaking reality that affects far too many children in our communities.

‼In the United States, approximately 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys experience sexual abuse before the age of 18.

🧸These are not just statistics. They represent children who deserve safety, protection, and care.

Most children are harmed by someone they know and trust. Because of fear, shame, manipulation, or threats, many never tell — or may wait years before disclosing.

‼If a child shares their experience, the most powerful words they can hear are:

💙“I believe you.”
💙“This is not your fault.”

Awareness and education begins with safe adults, open conversations about body autonomy, and communities willing to speak up.

Healing is possible. Support is available. And every child deserves to grow up safe.
We Believe You. 💙

🩵 April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and today we’re proud to spotlight and thank our incredible community partner, The Village Clinic, for being a SAAM sponsor and supporting lifesaving advocacy services at Family Resources.

Because of partners like you, survivors have access to compassionate, trauma-informed care when they need it most. Your commitment shows that supporting survivors isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we actively stand behind.

We are deeply grateful to have you in our corner. It truly takes a village, and this is what advocacy looks like. 🩵

💙📣🎗Day of Action 2026 💙📣🎗

Featuring other action events such as a sneak peek at The Clothesline Project at Augustana College - Illinois last week and UnityPoint Health-Trinity's Flag Ceremony.

Our main office tried T&L’s Java Joint Drive-Thru featured drink called "Teal Ribbon" today and it was fantastic! $1 per "Teal Ribbon" sold comes back to programs within Family Resources.

Stay tuned for more ways you can become involved on our page or on our website: www.famres.org.

💙🎗Today, April 7, is the Sexual Assault Awareness Month Day of Action🎗💙

‼What can YOU do?

📣Spread awareness by wearing the color teal and sharing resources.

🤝Attend a SAAM event during the month of April with friends.

📖Learn more about what sexual violence is, why consent is non-negotiable, "what counts," how to support survivors, and self-care resources for yourself or someone you care about.

💵Consider donating to agencies, like Family Resources, that have programs tailored to getting sexual assault/abuse survivors the medical, legal, physical, and emotional support they need and deserve.

🎗Every 68 seconds, someone is assaulted. Someone in our very own community. At Family Resources, we are committed to providing care and support with the upmost dignity and respect to local survivors.
