It's Music Monday again! 🎶 For the last couple weeks I've talked about how music increases all sorts of feel-good chemicals, and the previous songs had a hopeful message. This week, the song is about feeling like they've made progress in getting healthy, and then trauma pops back up. That's not exactly hopeful, but it is realistic. Healing is not a steady, constant incline. It's up and down.

Memories are stored in networks, and they are all activated by associations. So when we work on one and feel better, that's when another may pop up. But that's not regression, it's how you know you're doing the real work, not just surface level.

Every time I hear this song, I want to reach through the speaker and yell to him that his therapist was definitely telling the truth. Give it a listen and you'll know exactly which part I mean.

It's time for the second Music Monday, even though there's only a little bit of Monday left. This song is a great reminder that real healing takes hard work. There aren't shortcuts, and the only way out is through. Therapy is about more than learning coping skills, it's about digging deep into the root of the issues and healing those parts. Turn this one up and remind yourself it's worth it.

Like I said in my last post, I'm going to be sharing Music Mondays and Funny Fridays. Music and laughter both activate the vagus nerve, boost parasympathetic activity, and release a cocktail of neurochemicals that make you feel calmer, happier, and more connected.

Obviously, mental health topics are serious, AND sometimes laughing can make it feel less heavy. Here are a few that made me laugh recently, and hopefully will do the same for you.

There are two things in life that are 'therapy' for most people - music and laughter. Music and genuine laughter both activate the vagus nerve, boost parasympathetic activity, and release a cocktail of neurochemicals that make you feel calmer, happier, and more connected. I personally find both to be my anchors in life, and truly enjoy incorporating them into therapy as well.

I don't utilize my page much anymore, but would love to (semi) consistently post Music Monday and Funny Friday.
