Let’s learn about herbs! Not only through a book, not only through the experiences of others, but also (and super importantly) through a relationship that you yourself build with them.

✏️ Get your journal, spend some time there, and come reflect with an herbalist after on what you learned!

Safety note: check that the herb is a safe one for your body, doesn’t counteract with any medicines, pregnancy, etc. Most herbs are safe for most bodies, but once that’s clear, get intuitive and observe.

Be also mindful that not all sources online are from trained herbalists. Use discernment and research before coming to conclusions others may be saying.

Aptly named because when used, feels like a cap is placed over the skull to quiet a racing/monkey mind.
Skullcap is an awesome restorative herb for the nervous system.

What a beautiful KIDS garden hour! They all got to learn the parts of the plant and take a stroll through the gardens. All the kiddos got to taste many plants & take some herbs home to make a tea. Afterwards, the kids got to enjoy the goats, chickens, & the cutest tortoise named Turbo!

To most this is an annoying w**d in the lawn or garden. But for those who know, you KNOW!

Spanish Needle, or Bidens Alba is a super common herb found all over Florida, especially in disturbed soils or along pathways.

We love Bidens for lots of reasons.
Here are 3 of them:

1. It is one of the top most important nectar plants for florida pollinators!

2. It is edible and very nutritious. Especially cooking it into stirfrys and soups!

3. It is a very useful medicinal herb.
We've seen it work wonders against various bacterial infections and skin irritations. (Among other things)

So next time you encounter this plant on your walk around outside (in florida), consider that you are looking at an incredibly important herbal ally, not only for humans, but for the wildlife and ecosystems around us.
