It’s been a while since I posted on this page but had to share this.

10.4 lbs warrants a c-section! NOT!!

Today I received a call from perinatologist stating that a 3rd time mom needed a section because baby’s estimated wt was 10.4 lbs. He insisted on sending her immediately to the hospital. My reply, “send her home.”
Natural induction started and mom had a successful VAGINAL birth of a beautiful 8.14 lbs baby girl.

Grandma Midwife

Third is a charm! She stood on the sidelines with the first and eventually went from taking pictures to holding her granddaughter's leg when pushing.
The second time around grandma moved up to midwife's assistant. Birth was eminent and me without an assistant had to promote her.
This time around I had a feeling I would be demoted and I was. On my way the phone rings "where are you? Baby is coming!" My reply " Be the Midwife and just catch the baby." Next phone call " Baby is here!", I have no gloves." Me "Yes you do... you are the Midwife." Grandma Midwife to her granddaughter couldn't ask for anyone better.
Baby boy born on 8/17/17, @ 6:47 am, weighing 8.12 lbs.

From Little sis to Mom

I couldn't help but think of you from the day of your own birth to this day. You my little sis was now becoming a mom.
Three days and three nights, yes your journey was. You took it in strides, with patience, and determination. For you hospital wasn't an option, may of crossed your mind but didn't entertain.
So focused on your breaths and willingness to sleep. 12 breaths per contractions is what it took to make it through each one. Resting in between was your focus, yes to sleep. Three days and three nights, you've earn the right to brag.
I watched you go through your journey, I must tell you it wasn't easy. Being your big sister, midwife, aunt-to-be carried many emotions but you little sis helped me through. You trusted me, and when I had a doubt you told me "don't doubt yourself." You encouraged and helped me to remain grounded.
You my little sis today are a mom. The woman I saw going through her journey into motherhood is a woman that has earned my outmost respect and admiration. Schuyler is very lucky to have a mom like you. Days that she takes you for granted I will be there to remind her "When? When you went from little sis to mom". Baby Schuyler born on 8/10/17 at 1:08 pm weighing 7.6 lbs

The Universal Language of Birth...
During my years as a Midwife in S Florida I've had the pleasure of meeting families from all over. Different ethnic and social- economical backgrounds.
I'm welcomed into their homes like part of the family. I hear their language, and partake in their meals. I have been introduced to many different types of dishes. Enriched by the many different cultures.
One thing they all have in common and that is the universal language of birth. Unable to understand their native language at times, when it comes to birth it is understood clearly. From the initial excitement of labor, to the look of glee when holding baby for the first time. From the looks of concern to the looks of relief and joy on their family's face. The Universal language of labor called love.
Welcomed a baby boy on 2/10/17 at 9:21 pm weighing 7.6 lbs.

As a licensed Midwife I have had the honor of partnering with countless of families. I've had the pleasure of being one of the first to hold your babies and see them take their first breath. I'm looking forward to serving you for years to come. Asking that you help protect our Midwifery Law, every dollar counts.

Florida Licensed Midwives have a long, rich history serving families. Since 1996, more than 33,000 babies have been born with the help of a licensed midwife. In October, Florida ACOG and the Florida Medical Association announced that they are pursuing legislation and rule-changes that may impact...

What a great way to keep warm during south florida's winter weather. Welcomed a baby boy this morning at 8:39, weighing 8.12 oz. This family is very special to me, aunt and 2 nieces have had a total of 5 babies with me as their midwife. The love felt kept the soul warm on a cold night.
