The Human Performance Center handles nutrition and fitness advice to increase overall health. The Operational Support Team offers classes on stress management, sleep, basic lifting technique, a running clinic, and more! Ever wondered how your heart rate was like while you're sleeping?
Here's a snapshot of what happens in each stage:

Falling asleep-- your nervous system stimulation is reduced and your heart rate will drop to a resting state.
Light sleep-- your body temperature drops and your muscles relax.
Deep sleep-- your blood pressure drops and your heart rate slows to about 20-30% below your resting heart rate.
REM-- this is the stage where you are dreaming, so depending on the type of dream you are experiencing your heart rate will vary.

Don't forget to clean your mattress!
You should be washing your mattress every 6 months, follow these easy steps to clean your mattress!

1. Wash all bedding, and once stripped, vacuum all surfaces of your mattress.
2. Blot any stains with a gentle cleaner, and be sure to not get your mattress too soaked.
3. Allow your mattress to dry, then add baking soda to the surface of the mattress to soak up any lingering smells.
4. Give the baking soda a few hours to sit and then vacuum the surface.
5. Repeat on the other side!

You want to slightly push past your limits, but to protect yourself be able to recognize the two signs of excessive exercise:

1. Overreaching- you'll experience muscle soreness and feel even more run down than usual.
2. Overtraining- make sure you allow your body to fully recover!!
