Hunkering down. ❄️
Last weekend brought 5–8–12°F temps, with the door to this 100-sq-foot growing space frozen shut under 6+ inches of snow.
☀️ Mid-week bluebird skies warmed things just enough to check on the overwintering plants — next spring’s bouquet greenery. 🌿
Now it’s back to trusting the heater and remote sensors to keep everything safe and cozy.

Last week I took a city break to Baltimore to enjoy a few days of friendship, museum time and good neighbourhood grub. This Chinese vase at the Walters Art Museum was among the many things that drew my fascination. The multitude of blossoms is the “one hundred flowers” (baihua) decoration. Apparently, to have one hundred flowers bloom at once is especially auspicious, and the motif expresses the sentiment “May blossoming flowers bring prosperity” (huakai fugui). I consider it A Flower Farmers Blessing.

Boom! 💥
Buck-hunting season kicked off at dawn. I know because I can *hear* it—just the other side of my 8’ fence.
Time to break out the orange 🦺 and stay on my own property. 🐾😎
Or better yet… time to plan orange bouquets: poppies, marigolds, zinnias, echinacea, rudbeckias. 💥🌼🦺
