Spring is coming… really! ❄️🌸

This hellebore started as a tiny seedling at Sunshine Farms in Greenbrier County. Two years ago we brought it home to Tucker County, and now it’s one of the first flowers to emerge. Beautiful proof that winter doesn’t last forever.

This International Women’s Day 2026, let’s take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come — and on the hills still left to climb.

As a flower farmer and entrepreneur, I’m reminded every day that achieving a vision takes patience, courage, and persistence. Seeds don’t bloom overnight, and neither does progress. With care, determination, shared purpose, and stewardship, change takes root.

Today I’m celebrating the women (and the men who work alongside them) who plant ideas, nurture dreams, build businesses, support others, and create beauty in the world — often all at once.

Here’s to cultivating a world of equity, opportunity, and justice for ALL women and girls. 🌷🌼🪷🌸🌻

That’s me - WVU Extension Small Farm Center poster child - in the purple cardigan talking (with my hands 🤭) to the WVU Agribusiness students about how they can help me market Canaan Valley Flower Company!
Great conference. I’ve met some wonderful people. And eaten some delicious WV grown meals.

Great classes, great networking, great food!

The first day of the Small Farm Conference 2026 was a success. We are excited to welcome Thursday’s participants back and see new faces tomorrow!

The Bee Bill (SB927) has officially passed the Senate Agriculture Committee! This is a huge step forward for West Virginia beekeepers and everyone who supports strong, consistent apiary protections across our state. Thank you to Senators Hart, Thorne, and Chapman for championing this bill!
