On Feb 9th, 2018, ISPE have a speaker, Lloyd Yu, who is the Head of Quality Assurance at LakePharma. LakePharma is the leading biologics service provider specializing in antibody and protein engineering, cell line development, protein production, and analysis. The topics were about the Drug Development, Process Development, and Regulatory Issues in the Biotech/Biopharma industry. It was really interesting and everyone have learned so much information about the industries. Thank you our faculty advisers: Dr.McDonald for inviting Lloyd Yu to this event, and Dr. White for helping us setting up for this event.

On February 8th, 2018, ISPE has a guest speaker, Tina Coop, from NNE to talk about the roles of biotech consulting firms in supporting the biotech and biopharma industry. NNE is an international company, specialized in pharma engineering. They help pharmaceutical companies bring products to market by providing flexible, compliant and future-proof solutions. Since NNE is currently hiring Biologist, Chemical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer and related fields, this was a great opportunity for the undergraduate and graduate students to connect with the three NNE representative professionals for their jobs and internship opportunities.

Our second event is with the GE Healthcare on November 8th, 2017. Our guess speakers were Zach Durant and Kyle Martin. They talked about the transitioning from academia to industry. This topic will be applicable to Science & Business aspects. This was a great opportunity for anyone who is thinking of going straight into industry or considering it and seeing how to handle the transition.

It was exciting to have our first event on October 25th with Synbiobeta. The speaker is John Combers, CEO of Synbiobeta, who have involve the audience to his presentation to get them to think and eager to learn more about the current trends in Synthetic Biology. We would like to thank everyone who have been showing up to our events since this the first to now. We are enthusiastic to host more good events like this one in the future.
